This Mission-driven AI use case rubric, by Equal Opportunity Schools and Intentional Futures, is exactly the kind of time and thought everyone needs to put into assessing and evaluating AI adoption and implementation across the board. Key features of the rubric include: "Ethical Considerations: Assessing the impact of AI use cases on student privacy, data security, and potential biases Inclusivity: Evaluating how AI applications support diverse student populations and contribute to closing opportunity gaps Mission Alignment: Ensuring that AI technologies align with the core mission and values of educational institutions Transparency: Assessing the clarity and openness of AI systems in terms of decision-making processes and outcomes" A must read post, and the best part - the rubric is available for download! https://lnkd.in/g7QuBR3F

With the abundance of AI detection software around, it's extremely important to highlight that they are ineffective and inaccurate. But what should re-assure us, even more now than before, is this research by Stanford University. There has been no significant increase in cheating amongst student since the advent of ChatGPT! Some key takeaways are: 1. The seemingly ubiquitous nature of AI and ChatGPT has not made cheating 'more accessible' in any way. So, if a student was not inclined to cheat before, they won't begin now. 2. Race and household income both played a role in the awareness and use of ChatGPT. "72 percent of white students had at least some knowledge of ChatGPT..." And, households with incomes above $75,000 were 34% more aware of ChatGPT than those who had incomes of $30,000 or below. 3. Banning the use of AI and similar chatbots won't address the root cause of why students cheat. There is a need for a much closer look at how to tackle the very real issues of student engagement, of having students feel a sense of ownership in what they learn and how they learn it, and having purpose in their learning overall. https://lnkd.in/gfixm7qt

Happy New Year! Let's take a look at some data from 2023. A great article here with some key takeaways: 1. There was an increase in teacher job satisfaction from previous years, yet teachers are still more stressed in their jobs than other working adults. How can this be improved? Will AI help to increase or decrease job related stress? 2. Student Mental Health and Wellness is significantly impacting their behaviour and performance in class. 3. Teachers want more training and PD around AI for themselves, their classroom and their students. How important is the ethical use of AI and what is our role as educators in defining responsible adoption and use of AI in class and schools? 4. In Math education, there seems to be a disconnect between theory and practice - teachers often find that district provided resources do not engage students or are not differentiated for the needs of their learners. Are these gaps going to be adequately bridged in 2024? https://lnkd.in/eRVdbDy3
