Today, we stand together in reflection with Indigenous communities as we observe Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, acknowledging those affected by the residential school system. On September 30, Canadians from coast to coast to coast wear orange shirts to honor the experiences of Indigenous children and their families, symbolizing the importance of remembrance and the ongoing journey toward healing. This year, we proudly invited our team members to contribute by designing our Orange Shirt Day T-shirt. Matthew Whiteford, HSE Advisor at our Syncrude site and a proud Métis from Fort McMurray, created this year’s design. Having grown up hearing stories from families impacted by the residential school system, Matthew wanted the shirt to be a simple yet powerful representation of healing and hope. Floating through the memories of an incredible Canada Day. 🍁 Our Sarnia branch celebrated in style with our very own Canada Day Parade float.
