The original corporate entity of Amico was created in April, 1987 when company owner and president, Mr. Dominic Amicone began business as Amico Contracting & Engineering Inc. Located just outside of the City of Windsor in Oldcastle, Ontario the majority of the company’s early construction activity occurred in the Windsor/Essex County area. Since that time, the company has grown in size and capability and is currently involved in land development and construction throughout Ontario. Amico has successfully completed many high profile construction contracts since its inception. The Amico group of companies consists of several affiliated and wholly owned Corporations that carry on business in Canada. Amico provides an integrated and diverse range of services centered on site selection, land development and construction. The team at Amico consists of a full-time staff in excess of 150 employees including Professional Engineers, Land Use Planners, Architects, Chartered Accountants, Masters of Business Administration, Sales and Marketing staff, Project Managers, Site Superintendents and a unionized work force. Meet our dedicated team in Mount Hope, Hamilton, where we're hard at work on our water and sanitary installation project. 🔧 Adam Matthews, our Project Coordinator is leading the current installation of pipes 6-7 meters deep on Dickenson Rd. This complex task requires planning and the assistance of engineers for shore planning due to the significant depth, ensuring the team's safety throughout the process. New Updates from the Yarmouth Rail Yard project! 🚂 This past month, we’ve made significant progress on the abutments for our rail spur. With the piles driven into the ground, we continue to prepare formwork through reinforcing steel installation. This is to prepare the formwork to receive concrete to create a sturdy abutment. 🏗️ Laying a strong foundation is crucial for the success of this project, and we are committed to ensuring every step is executed with precision and care. Here’s a look back at our previous work on the westbound 401 expansion from Mavis Rd. to Winston Churchill Blvd. 🚧 This extension introduced a full express and collector system through Mississauga, that still positively impacts the flow of traffic to this day. 🌉 🛣 Always exciting showcasing our members' work! Thank you Minister of Colleges and Universities Jill Dunlop and Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response Trevor Jones for joining our members Amico Affiliates and Green Infrastructure Partners on a tour of the Geordie Howe International Bridge and Highway 3 Expansion projects in Windsor, ON. Both projects will play a significant role in relieving congestion and sustaining economic development and growth in the Windsor-Essex once completed and operational. The region is the largest single trade corridor between Canada and the United States, and is home to several critical industries such as agriculture, automotive and manufacturing. In addition to showcasing their leadership in quality, innovation and sustainability, our members demonstrated their commitment to workforce development and community building. Summer student Arianna gave the Minister an overview of the project and her role, and shared her future plans in the industry. Special thanks to ORBA Director Jamie Di Laudo and GIP AVP Major Projects Gary Quenneville for hosting us for an exceptional tour. We are also grateful for the hospitality of the team at WDBA-APWD and the Bridge's project manager (and our tour guide) Jamie. #Transportation #Infrastructure #Roads #Bridges #Workforce #Development
