🌟 Proud Moment at Anchoridge Counselling Services 🌟 We're thrilled to celebrate our very own Emma Giao, Registered Psychotherapist, who recently presented at Gluckstein Lawyers' 17th Annual Compassion Fatigue Conference on May 15, 2024. The theme, "Prioritizing Mental Health," highlights the unique challenges faced by professionals at risk of compassion fatigue. Emma's insightful session, "Compassion Fatigue: Practicing Self-Compassion for Professionals," delved into understanding compassion fatigue, recognizing its warning signs, and addressing secondary traumatic stress. She also explored burnout, self-awareness, and provided attendees with strategies to assess and mitigate the cost of caring. This CPD Accredited conference aims to foster a culture of well-being across professions, ensuring that every professional can thrive in their demanding roles. Kudos to Emma for her dedication to mental health and for making a significant impact in our community! 👏 #MentalHealthMatters #CompassionFatigue #ProfessionalWellBeing #AnchoridgeCounselling #CPDAccredited https://lnkd.in/egKfFhCu

If you are feeling overwhelmed, struggling with frequent headaches or insomnia, or are irritable, know that these are all common symptoms of stress. Stress is unavoidable, but we can add simple practices to our day to help manage it. However, it can be hard to make time for things that make you feel good when life feels too busy and overwhelming. Keep in mind: you may have a big to do list, but when you take a break to care for yourself and relieve stress, you're more productive in less time! It's also good to remind yourself that sometimes all you need is 1-5 minutes to feel a difference. Here are some simple strategies to reduce the impact of stress on your physical and mental health. ✅ take a break ✅ go for a walk: nature is proven to help reduce stress and improve mood and overall wellbeing ✅ talk to a loved one or friend ✅ watch your favourite funny show or movie ✅ play with a pet ✅ book a counselling session ✅ enjoy your favourite food ✅ practice deep belly breathing ✅ care for a plant or work in the garden ✅ try a guided meditation If you are feeling overwhelmed and need to talk, we are here for you. Here at Anchoridge Counselling, we believe mental health care is a basic human right; we never want finances to be a barrier to you accessing the care you need. Anchored In Hope is our sliding scale program that offers affordable counselling rates, based on need. How it works: After your intake appointment, once you book your meet and greet with the clinician you have been matched with and you have completed the Anchored In Hope assessment form, you can discuss the Anchored In Hope program during your meet and greet with your clinician. The rate is up to the discretion of the clinician, and is typically set for a maximum of 12 sessions (approximately 3 months) and at that time your clinician will reassess your need for continuing on the Anchored in Hope program. No matter what you're going through, mindfulness practices are proven to help support mental health, and the best part is they're free and doable anytime. When you use your senses it brings you back to the present moment, and keeps you from worrying about the future, or dwelling on the past.😌 You can also try a walking meditation where you simply focus on the feeling of your feet hitting the ground, then you can add in your senses: What do you hear? What do you see? What do you smell? What's your favourite mindfulness practice? #mindfulness #anxiety #grounding #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #counselling #therapy
