Hey everyone! Just wanted to give you a sneak peek of Forge Lab, our awesome new web-based simulation tool for vision-guided robotics. The best part? You don't need any cameras, robots, or parts, so you can lower the risk of your automation investment. With the Simulations module, you get to dive in and fine-tune your work. Can the robot reach all the parts? Are they easy to pick up, whether they're neatly arranged or all over the place? Have you nailed the best pick points for each part? And because gripping strategy is super crucial, our Pick Points feature offers you some fantastic tools to figure out the best way to handle each part. Just upload an end-of-arm tool and set up a prioritized series of pick points. You can apply them across different surfaces and adjust according to the gripper's rotation.

As #IMTS2024 approaches, let's talk metal fabrication applications for vision-guided robotics. We're installing a lot of vision systems that help manufacturers get people out of dangerous, repetitive processes. In the photo below, a vision system is sorting bolts with a two-finger gripper. But gripping strategies can be done by off-the-shelf EOATs or custom-designed equipment. Here's some examples of possible applications: ○ Picking parts out of a bin and placing them on a fixture for assembly, or on to a conveyor belt. ○ Sort hardware—think bolts, washers and nuts—into kits that go to the manufacturing line. ○ Feeding and unloading stamping and CNC machines, then stacking or racking the parts. ○ Pre-assembly and placement for welding parts together. ○ Racking and de-racking stamped metal parts or pipes. ○ Dispensing an adhesive or lubricant on a path identified by the vision software.
