I was happy to speak with Dylan Robertson for this story on #APEC and what #Canada will be seeking to achieve at this year's summit in #Peru. Canada is currently chairing the #CPTPP trade bloc, and next year will be hosting the #G7 summit of advanced economies, culminating in a leader's summit in Alberta. This means Trudeau will be pushing to preserve rules-based trade "that is critical to our prosperity" over the coming days, Nadjibulla said. "APEC is meeting in the context of rising protectionism, intense geopolitical competition, uncertain economic growth and the Trump election," she said. "It's really quite different from the founding vision of APEC, which is all about trade liberalization (and) deeper economic integration. APEC was essentially a product of an era of hyperglobalization, which is definitely coming to an end." #APECSummit2024 #Trade #Canada #CPTPP Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada APEC Perú 2024

🎓L.L.L Law Graduate at University of Ottawa | Candidate à la formation professionnelle de l'École du Barreau
🇯🇵🇨🇦 This past February, I had the privilege to be one of 15 fortunate students to have been selected from the University of Ottawa to participate in the Kakehashi Project, along with other brilliant minds from across Canada. During this trip, we fully immersed ourselves in Japanese culture and traditions and engaged in enriching discussions that broadened our global awareness. It taught us the immense value of embracing different perspectives and ways of life, as we have so much to learn from one another. Highlights included: - Courtesy visit to Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado of Japan - Visit several sites in Tokyo; Asakusa Sensō-ji temple, Ozu Washi Museum and Tokyo Sky Tree - Try authentic Japanese cuisine at traditional Tatami seating (Zashiki) restaurants - Take the Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo to Nagoya, where we visited the city’s archive and Hommaru Palace, attended a lecture on Aichi Prefecture, visited Setogura Ceramic museum and Mankei-neko museum. - Participate in an exchange program, trying out Japanese calligraphy, origami making, traditional Japanese tea ceremony at Yagoto-San Kousho-ji Temple and home-visit with Chukyo Unisersity students. - Present our exchange experience to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan This unique and memorable experience gave me the chance to connect with like-minded individuals, and sparked an ambition to contribute to the deepening of relations between young leaders and scholars from our two nations. I feel blessed for this outstanding learning opportunity and I wish to extend my gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE), uOttawa | uOGlobal and the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada for generously sponsoring this rewarding program.
