Yesterday’s fascinating symposium "75 Years of the Basic Law (Grundgesetz) – Success Story and Future Challenges" featured five experts who provided insights into various key topics, including recent studies on how Germany’s residents perceive the Basic Law. For instance, 81% believe it has stood the test of time, and 78% stated they would be willing to actively defend it. These findings give us confidence that our democracy remains strong and resilient, even as it faces significant global and national challenges. We were delighted by the distinguished audience both online and in person and extend our heartfelt thanks to the speakers and participants for their engagement with this critical topic! He spoke on both a panel (1hr 12m mark) and roundtable discussion (4hr 30m) responding to international geopolitics, the significance of the CPTPP to the development and resilience of various economies around the world, and the prospects of Taiwan's application to join the CPTPP. 📹You can find the full video from October 2nd on our website now: https://shorturl.at/Se76x
Started in September 2021 as President & CEO, Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. Former Consul General of Canada in Hong Kong, 33 years as a Canadian diplomat.
Just back from a productive four-day visit to Taipei last week, where I was delighted to participate in an international seminar on the CPTPP and supply chain resilience: https://lnkd.in/gbjktjSC. Seminar begins 15 minutes into the video; my portions are at the 1h12m and 4h30 marks. Taiwan's Sept 2021 application to join CPTPP and its evident strengths as a partner in trade and supply chains for current CPTPP members are addressed in detail throughout the three panel sessions.
