Fifty years ago today, on May 24, 1974, Apotex was officially incorporated by our founder, Dr. Barry Sherman, marking the start of a remarkable journey. From its humble beginnings with just two employees to the iconic organization it is today, Apotex's growth and achievements have been nothing short of extraordinary. Over the last five decades, Apotex has consistently advocated for improved access to affordable medicine, building a solid foundation rooted in positively impacting the patient's journey to health. The company's remarkable 50-year history exemplifies innovation, from leading the way with #biosimilars in Canada to launching complex products in the United States and other key international markets. Additionally, Apotex's global footprint is enhanced through robust commercial infrastructure and strategic expansions that underscore its commitment to patient access. As we continue to celebrate Apotex’s 50th anniversary, we’re proud of the incredible milestones of our colleagues. Bipin Thakore’s career began as a summer student fresh out of high school, and 40 years later he’s still with Apotex! Reflecting on his decades-long journey, Bipin shared, “One of the great things about Apotex is it provides the opportunity to try new things. You’re never locked into one role or team, which means you can always be learning and developing at all stages of your career. I’m still learning 40 years later!” His advice for newcomers? We are excited to announce that Apotex has entered into an agreement with Formosa Pharmaceuticals, Inc. under which we have the exclusive rights to market and distribute APP13007 (clobetasol propionate ophthalmic suspension, 0.05%) in Canada upon approval. The agreement will expand our ophthalmic portfolio and provide Canadian patients with a new treatment option for post-operative inflammation and pain following ocular surgery. Last week, Allan Oberman, our President and CEO, met with colleagues at our manufacturing facility in Bangalore and our Global Business Services offices in Mumbai. We are excited to announce that Apotex has signed an exclusive agreement with Coherus BioSciences to bring toripalimab to patients in Canada upon approval as a new treatment option for recurrent or metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Our partnership with Coherus, a biopharmaceutical company that focuses on researching, developing, and commercializing #innovative therapies for #cancer treatment, is aligned with our strategic focus to expand our branded #pharmaceutical therapeutic areas.
