Principal, Management and Senior Review at ARA Ltd.

Recent articles in some corners of the media landscape have made much of the fact that the number of suspected graves at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School in British Columbia has been revised downward. Indeed, some columnists have gone so far as to suggest this proves the Indian Residential School system was not genocidal and that Canada has been libeled. These claims are comprehensively incorrect and require an almost willful blindness to established facts.

  • ARA is proud to be part of the team that won the Historic Restoration/Preservation Award from the Ontario Public Works Association! The Eramosa River Bridge Restoration Project was lead by Hatch on behalf of Metrolinx. ARA completed Archaeological Assessments, a Cultural Heritage Evaluation Report and a Heritage Impact Assessment that helped to inform the restoration work. We love being part of such a great example of the successful heritage preservation in an infrastructure project.

  • ARA is proud to announce that we are working with the City of Mississauga, First Nation and Indigenous Communities, and City Partners on their first Archaeological Management Plan (AMP). This project is working towards improving the management and conservation of these significant and non-renewable cultural resources, mending the gaps between the archaeological and planning processes, as well as reaffirming the important role First Nations and Indigenous Communities have in land stewardship. You can find out more about this project, see answers to Frequently Asked Questions, and take a survey about the AMP here:
