As we celebrate our 55th anniversary this year, we’re looking back at the growth of our programs and services over the years. In the late 1990s, the Community Living Program was established to offer three specific services to persons with diverse abilities (developmental disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorder). Our S.T.A.R. program (Socialization, Teaching and Recreation) for children and youth aged 8-18 years, and the Discovery Community Inclusion program for adults aged 19+ both provide opportunities for socialization, recreation, and volunteering. Our E.P.I.C. Program (Employing Persons in the Community) for adults aged 19+ helps individuals match their employment goals with prospective employers.

Archway and organizations across our community hang purple lights and wear purple in October to raise awareness surrounding intimate partner violence. Violence in relationships is a pervasive social problem that occurs across all ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious boundaries. Together we can challenge the stigma surrounding intimate partner violence, fostering a culture of respect and support. The Purple Lights Nights Campaign is an initiative taken on by the Abbotsford / Mission Violence Against Women in Relationships (VAWIR) Committee to raise awareness, offer support and send a strong message that “Intimate Partner Violence Has NO Place In Our Community.”
