Aurora’s Erin Mulrooney attended Carbon Capture Canada to explore the latest in #CCUS and connect with other industry players focused on carbon strategy and innovation. Many key discussions centered around the challenges associated with capturing and storing CO2. Erin brought the unique perspective of Aurora’s methane pyrolysis technology, which produces hydrogen fuel and solid carbon — effectively sequestering carbon without producing gaseous CO2 through combustion. At the event, it was great to discuss different solutions for a low-carbon future and to expand technology pathways. #CarbonSequestration #PreCombustion #MethanePyrolysis #CCC24

Developing the next generation of emission-free hydrogen technology.
About us
Aurora Hydrogen is developing a technology that uses efficient microwave energy to heat methane in the absence of oxygen and water (pyrolysis) to produce hydrogen and solid carbon with no direct CO2 emissions. The technology is highly scalable and modular, units can be installed anywhere there is natural gas and electricity. Hydrogen production using Aurora's technology has the potential to reduce global CO2 emissions by over 500 million tonnes per year.

Methane pyrolysis produces hydrogen gas and solid carbon, without emissions. No matter the technology, the hydrogen gas produced is essentially the same. But that's not the case for the carbon product. In our latest white paper, we explain the different carbon materials produced by methane pyrolysis, the market applications best suited for each and how Aurora's carbon stacks up. "Our proposition here, because of our use of natural gas and low electricity demand, is that we can use existing infrastructure to produce clean hydrogen.” CEO Andrew Gillis recently had a great conversation with Polly Martin at Hydrogen Insight about Aurora's technology, and how existing natural gas pipelines and electrical infrastructure make our novel methane pyrolysis method convenient and cost-effective. Producing clean hydrogen at the point-of-use eliminates the challenges and costs of transporting hydrogen across long distances, bringing us closer to realizing the hydrogen future. CEO Andrew Gillis recently connected with Reuters to discuss Canada's clean hydrogen progress, forces impacting hydrogen supply and demand, and Aurora's position in the market as an emerging technology. It was a great conversation, and Paul's story covers much more. We encourage reading the full piece 👇 https://lnkd.in/gcyZiKEK

The countdown is on — we are on the Path to Pilot! We're constructing a 200-kg/day facility in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta to demonstrate our technology for low-cost, emission-free hydrogen production from natural gas. This LEGO model was built by our very own Carl Corbett and James Tatum- and isn't too far off from the real thing! 😉 Stay tuned for more life-sized updates… #PathToPilot #CleanHydrogen #Hydrogen

We’ve been busy building the future of clean hydrogen 👇
I blinked, and we're already halfway through the year! Here are some Aurora Hydrogen highlights from the the first half of 2024: 🏍 We're riding the great learning curve, continuing to build our organizational capabilities around technology development and scale-up. 👩🔧 We've completed the design and started construction of our clean hydrogen demonstration plant, and have begun planning for the commercialization of distributed hydrogen production. ⛽ We're seeing market traction for distributed hydrogen as a clean fuel to displace traditional fuels like diesel and natural gas in hard-to-electrify sectors. 🔋 We're developing markets for our carbon co-product in areas like steelmaking and graphite production. 💰 We've received generous financial grants from some fantastic partners (Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), NGIF Accelerator). Every day is bringing new opportunities and challenges — just how we like it. I'm very proud of all the progress this team is making. MUCH more to come in the second half of 2024! #CleanHydrogen

Advancing a clean future for Canada is a big source of motivation for our team. Thank you to the Honourable Jonathan Wilkinson and the Honourable Randy Boissonnault for recognizing Aurora's role in that future. With our hydrogen technology, we're laser focused on supporting industrial decarbonization and displacing higher-emissions chemical fuels — both of which will help Canada transition to a low-carbon economy. We're grateful for the support from Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and NGIF Accelerator as we work to pilot, scale and commercialize our hydrogen technology. Our goal is to provide the market with the lowest-cost clean hydrogen, and this funding is a testament to that critical need. For more details: https://lnkd.in/d7g9zEKA #Hydrogen #CleanHydrogen
