Saving Brookline’s Historic Beech Trees: Bartlett’s Scientific Approach 🌳   Brookline’s iconic European beech trees, some of the oldest in the U.S., are under threat from Beech Leaf Disease (BLD), caused by a microscopic nematode, Litylenchus crenatae mccannii. This disease, first detected in 2020, is damaging the trees at Longwood Mall.   Bartlett Tree Experts is leading the fight against BLD. Our plant pathologist, Dr. Beth Brantley, is using Broadform, an innovative treatment that targets nematodes directly.
