Our 12th annual 30 Under 30 issue is on shelves now! This diverse crop includes multiple entrepreneurs of beverage companies (something in the water, we guess), along with, among many others, a cybersecurity expert, an accounting whiz and two siblings who make cookies. With not-so-great news seeming to show up everywhere one turns these days, it's our pleasure to highlight these brilliant young minds. Also in the issue: - An excellent feature on how such young minds are being educated nowadays as we dig into how post-secondary institutions are preparing students to deal with AI. - The venerable Frances Bula makes the case that Vancouver bungled the Broadway Plan beyond repair. - And outdoor enthusiast Steven Threndyle tells the tale of how the founders of beloved B.C. bike brand Kona Bikes bought back their company from the U.S. parent conglomerate they originally sold it to. Make sure you grab your copy! In high school, Atika עתיקה Juristia began advocating for harm reduction policies to help people who use drugs. “I have responded to many overdoses in person, and I’ve seen how undignified the deaths of drug users have been. I’ve lost friends to accidental overdoses,” she says. In 2023, Juristia’s advocacy efforts grew into The J Healthcare Initiative, a Vancouver-based nonprofit focused on harm reduction and overdose prevention.
