Donabel Santos didn’t dream of a computing career. But, after 3 years in university, she decided to pivot and found her calling in the Computer Systems Technology Diploma program at BCIT. Donabel became an Instructor at BCIT and has become a leader in her field. She has received numerous awards, written several textbooks, and found a global audience through her YouTube channel “sqlbelle”. Three BCIT alumni are breaking barriers for those living with disabilities through their work on the BCIT MAKE+ Team. Alumni Garrett Kryt, Rory Dougall, and Joe Newton, are part of the team preparing to compete at the upcoming Cybathon in Switzerland where they will present the power wheelchair they’ve created, named THE BEAST.
