The 2024 BCPVPA Connecting Leaders Conference has been a perfect place to premiere our new Leadership Competencies to our members and friends. - Stewardship for the future of all children - Fostering a culture of curiosity and inquiry - Growing the capacity of self and others - Contextual literacy and agency - Bridging policy and practice The Competencies draw early guiding priorities from the First Peoples Principles of Learning, and have been developed with many voices from within and beyond our membership. Throughout both a full-journey and a short-trip document, we use the distinct metaphor of 'being in the canoe'. We thank our session leaders today, Carolyn Roberts, Dr. David P. Burns, and Leona Prince, are we excited to continue this enriching journey of learning and leadership development.

What are the pressing issues facing Canadian Principals & Vice-Principals, and how can we work together to address them? Our BCPVPA President Dr. Shannon Behan EdD (she/her/hers), Acting ED Magdalena Kassis & Director of Member Support Services Carmen Eberle are attending Leadership Summit 2024 in Nova Scotia with Public School Administrators Association of Nova Scotia, Ontario Principals' Council, Association des directions des écoles francophones de l'Ontario, and the Catholic Principals' Council Ontario. It is an opportunity to explore common themes and issues and to identify potential shared resources and strategies, and will be three very full days of enriching conversation and connection!

We are so pleased to welcome representatives from the Ministry of Education and Child Care to our BCPVPA Board of Directors Retreat, with a review of the past year, and a preview of the year ahead in BC K-12 education. The annual Retreat is a fantastic opportunity for our 2024-2025 Board to connect, learn from each other, and plan for the year ahead.
