This year marks the fourth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a day to honour survivors of residential schools, intergenerational survivors and the children who returned home. We understand that the journey towards reconciliation is one that must be walked together, with respect, empathy and an unwavering commitment to justice. While our experiences are distinct, we as people of colour have a unique history of resilience and resistance. Through these shared lenses, we support Indigenous people not just in words, but through action, listening, learning and amplifying Indigenous voices. How you can help: 1. Actively listen to the Indigenous community wherever you are located 2. Learn more about the lasting impacts of the Indian Residential School System and colonial practices, which continue to manifest as systemic racism in many areas of our shared society including the economy, housing, justice, and more 3. Read the TRC’s 94 recommendations: https://lnkd.in/gAPcyC4z 4. Contact your MPs and local officials 5. Support Indigenous-led community organizations 6. Raise awareness in your community and online (you can wear orange or display red dresses and share the significance of this) United, we can break barriers and build a diverse and equitable community for all people. Thank you for being a part of this important journey. #nationaldayfortruthandreconciliation #awareness #reflection
