The FDA has recalled up to 28 Beverages from the market in 2024! So far this year there has been 28 Beverages recalled from the market by the FDA. This includes brands such as: - PepsiCo - Fiji Water - Charles Boggini - Powerade - House of Coffee - Enfamil ...and many more Reasons for the recall spanned a series of issues including: - Undisclosed ingredients (such as food dyes) - Harmful ingredients/chemicals (such as toxic metals) - Bacterial presence While most of these recalls will not likely cause any negative health effects to consumers, it is a huge hit to businesses as the cost of a recall and the negative PR that comes with it can be forever damaging. The FDA and Health Canada are both becoming more scrutinizing of the food and beverage industry. In particular they have put beverage brands under the microscope regarding ingredient labels. Health Canada has made many changes to requirements of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages starting in 2023 to ensure clear labeling for consumers. There are some big names on this list. Even the large players in the game can get hit with a recall. If you are starting up your own beverage business; do not let your company get hit with such an issue. These companies can take the hit usually, but a startup would be crushed pretty quickly. Invest in quality and regulation. Understand the requirements and find someone to help you build a system to protect you from these errors. This includes but is not limited to: - Approved Supplier program - Product Development/Review system - Change Management system - Co-packer Requirements and Expectations (signed in contract) - Audit and review of co-packers and 3PLs for traceability and recall Protect your business, your product, and your customers! Harmonizing beverage brands needs with manufacturing standards by prioritizing food safety, quality, and efficiency.
About us
The beverage industry has been blessed with the growth of many emerging brands as consumers continue to search for their favourite product. As the exploration of the consumer expands, so too does the demand for quality and safety from beverage brands. Likewise, the opportunity of involvement from manufacturing facilities becomes more viable. This includes businesses from small craft breweries, all the way up to large scale manufacturing operations. As both sides of this industry grow together, the necessity for a stronger alignment between these businesses grows as well. BevIn Solutions Inc. seeks to service each side of this relationship to ensure that both achieve their own goals and requirements, while building the best partnerships and success for all parties. Through our consulting services we pursue this harmonization with the follow expertise: - Extensive knowledge in the production processes and equipment of manufacturing facilities as well as the quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements to manufacture a successful product in today's market. - Development of Quality Procedures with necessary insight of food regulations. - Review and audit of manufacturing facilities quality, production, and food safety processes, including HACCP programs. - Review and standardization of documentation including product formulations, SOPs, and document recording/retention. - Identification of specification parameters, methods for achieving quality targets, and appropriate actions to improve product quality. - Guidance and liaising with operation teams, vendors, and formulators. - Recommended requirements for emerging beverage brands from prospective manufacturing facilities, and vice versa. - General Fractional Quality Assurance needs.

This subject needs to be discussed more as the NA brands continue to grow. Product quality and food safety is always a priority. Having the knowledge and experience to develop a proper program is essential for success of the industry.
E. coli can survive in non-alcoholic beer... In a recent study [1], researchers investigated the effects of antimicrobial variables, including storage temperatures, pH, and ethanol concentrations, on common bacterial populations in non-alcoholic beer. The results? Non-alcoholic beers allowed pathogen growth. The researchers recommended: "low and non-alcoholic beers should be processed through pasteurization, to achieve commercial sterility." Our Beverage Factory features tunnel pasteurisation, ensuring commercial sterility to ensure consumer safety. If you are a beverage producer interested in non-alcoholic production, please direct message us today to learn more. [1] https://lnkd.in/d4U7fRyk

Leader in the Alcoholic, Dealcoholized, and Non-Alcoholic Beverage Industry with a focus in Quality and Food Safety
While the industry is going to need more help than just this... it is still great news.
We welcome the Federal Government’s Beer Excise Tax Relief Announcement. The Hon. Chrystia Freeland and The Hon. Rechie Valdez today announced two significant new beer excise duty relief measures for Canadians. First, Canada’s annual automatic inflation-based increase to beer, wine and spirits taxes was capped at no more than 2% for two years. Second, additional tax relief was provided for the next two years on each brewer’s first 15,000 hl of annual beer production. “Today’s federal beer excise announcements provide critical predictability for the Canadian beer sector and fiscal breathing room for brewers” said, CJ Hélie, President of Beer Canada. “The measures will have a positive impact not only on brewers, but all along beer’s added-value supply chain from the farm to the bar”, he added. #Beer #HereForBeer https://lnkd.in/gX9KpdjN

My pint of beer can change price by the hour? There has been a lot of buzz lately surrounding Wendy's announcement to commence a trial on fluctuating food prices throughout the day. In short, when things are busy (like during a lunch rush) the price of burgers and other items will increase. During less busy hours, the prices will conversely drop. This is an interesting experiment which I am curious to observe the results of. However, this is not a completely new concept in the alcoholic beverage world. "Stock Market" themed bars like CKTL & Co in Toronto, ON use a market algorithm that displays and changes the prices of popular drinks as demand increases or decreases. If you like finance then this may be extra amusing to you, but it can be enjoyed by all. It adds a dynamic aspect to the menu, while incentivizing customers to try new things. What fun! A bit different from the Wendy's approach but it is interesting none-the-less. Success or Fail; there will be lots to learn from this experiment. https://lnkd.in/gGsZBfE7 #foodandbeverageindustry #beverageindustry #beer #cocktails #wendys #finance

Don't lie to grocery chains... Just save yourself the hassle. In the food and beverage industry, you're gonna get burned. I just witnessed what felt like a 60 Minutes deep dive into someone using a Copacker's SQF certification to get product in the door, then going elsewhere to have in manufactured until they got their volume up People, please... don't cut corners to save you time / money. Remember that these rules and regulations are here for the safety of YOUR consumer. I can't list off the danger that you put people in. It's not worth it I gotta cool down! We do not put peoples health at risk, nor do we sacrifice the quality of our product. Safety First, Quality Always. The above should be the mindset of any beverage company. I cant stress enough the importance of understanding the risks to both food safety, as well as quality, when it comes to making non-alcoholic (or de-alcoholyzed) product. I had the opportunity to work with a facility producing large quantities of de-alcoholyzed beer. Originally it used a concoction of preservatives, which were effective to some degree. In re-building the quality and food safety program of the facility we eliminated the packaging of de-alc kegs, and focused on canning. It took some convincing of the business, but it was the right thing to do for the customer AND for the brand. We successfully implemented and challenge tested a proper pasteurization program for the different beer profiles that were being made there. Not to mention we eliminated the use of preservatives which helped to improve the taste, as well as save cost on ingredients. Please don't take unnecessary risks for you or your customers. Instead understand the risks, evaluate your capabilities and limitations, design an appropriate solution, and if needed reach out to those experienced in these categories to ensure you are doing it right! #beverageindustry #nonalcoholic #beverages #safetyfirst #quality

"By prioritizing quality data, efficiency, and informed decision-making, brewers can not only weather the economic storm but also brew a brighter future for themselves and the entire craft beer community'. Couldn't agree more with this statement. I have unfortunately seen how the current climate has affected the industry over the past year and it is truly saddening. Many brewery operations are closing their doors, especially here in Vancouver, due to increasing financial pressures. Fortunately, I have also gained the experience and expertise of pushing through these challenges. As industry leaders and experts, it is our responsibility to help find solutions for these beverage companies and breweries. As an expert in these areas; BevIn Solutions Inc. will be doing its part to help maintain the vibrant culture of the craft beverage industry. Do you agree with the articles call outs as well? What would you say is the most important insight for beverage brands and breweries to focus on this year? #beverageindustry #craftbeer #breweries #beverageinsights
Craft Brewers, Buckle Up: 2024 is the Year of Business Savvy The tide is turning in the craft beer industry. Gone are the days when passion alone could carry a brewery. In 2024, economic pressures are demanding a new approach: running your brewery like a business. Ignoring production costs and process efficiencies is no longer an option. Some breweries, unfortunately, are already feeling the consequences of past financial oversights, with closures and turnovers becoming a harsh reality. This shouldn't come as a surprise. Just as you wouldn't buy a car without knowing its gas mileage, it's baffling to see brewers invest in brewing equipment without understanding their process efficiency – a crucial metric for profitability. The message is clear: data and accountability are the new craft beer superpowers. Brewers who embrace this shift will be the ones who thrive. It's about understanding every aspect of your operation, from grain-to-glass, and making data-driven decisions to optimize every step. This might mean tracking raw material usage, analyzing equipment performance, and implementing strategies to minimize waste and maximize output. This may also impact where and how you sell you beer. The good news is that embracing a business mindset doesn't have to mean sacrificing the soul of craft beer. Brewers can still prioritize quality, innovation, and community while also ensuring their success. In fact, a healthy bottom line can fuel even greater brewing creativity and experimentation. So, 2024 is a call to action for craft brewers. It's time to shed the rose-colored glasses and step into the role of business owners. By prioritizing quality, data, efficiency, and informed decision-making, brewers can not only weather the economic storm but also brew a brighter future for themselves and the entire craft beer community.

True words. Many challenges faced the industry this year as mentioned below. It was one of the worst years I've seen for ingredient supply issues, from the catastrophic CO2 supply chain failure, to the sugar strikes later in the year. Support your favourite brand and let's help them weather the financial storm as we head in to a year of stabilization for the beverage world!
If you’re an early stage business in Canada then you’ve likely had a very hard year. And that’s especially true if you’re trying to grow a business in the food and beverage space. You’ve probably had a near impossible time raising capital, have struggled with your banking relationship, lost margin thanks to inflation and lacked the ability to raise prices to retailers while your costs soared. Add to this a lack of manufacturers willing or able to do smaller production runs, ingredients becoming harder to source and it’s a perfect storm out there. Entrepreneurs are struggling mightily to keep up with the challenges let alone stay ahead of them. I hope our banks are paying attention and the investment community is as well. We have some amazing companies in the food and beverage space in Canada. Buy from them, invest in them and lend to them! This country grows the best ingredients but we are failing as a nation if we don’t also grow strong exporting agrifood businesses that employ, innovate and commercialize and who help our economy significantly and help feed our citizens and the globe.

1. Affordability 2. Self-expression of personal values (sustainability, identity etc.) 3. Authenticity and nostaligia (#dupes) 4. Health These are some of the most important highlights from ADM's 2024 Flavor and Color Outlook. Customers in 2024 will be looking for something affordable that can may remind them of authentic memories, while expressing their personal values and maintaining health. This is a tall order, and it would be difficult to expect this all in one beverage. However, beverage brands would be wise to take note of these categories and try to incorporate them where they can. If you can maintain the brand vision while utilizing these consumer-important trends; it may be the leading edge to put your brand above the rest.
