About us

Black Boys Code is a national organization dedicated to closing the diversity gap in the technology sector by introducing young boys of colour to computer science and increasing their participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields. These young men are provided the opportunities to strengthen their understanding in these fields, specifically computer science, through mentorship, industry exposure and intensive training. Last Saturday, I joined my colleagues to volunteer at a Black Boys Code Atlanta Chapter event centered on AI. We shared our career journeys in tech and explored the many career paths available. Seeing these young men so engaged and enthusiastic about all things AI was inspiring—a truly rewarding experience! Big shoutout to Torrance Evans Ejike Uzoije and the Atlanta chapter for hosting such a fantastic Black Boys Code event! Your dedication to creating a meaningful impact in our community is truly inspiring and instrumental in shaping the next generation of trailblazers. Thank you, Salesforce, for your continued support of this vital initiative, empowering our youth and providing them with the tools and inspiration to succeed in tech and beyond.

**** Believe, Empower, Educate, Empathize **** As someone who is very passionate about the empowerment of the young African American population, it brought me great joy to partner with Torrance Evans, Charles T. Brown, MBA, and Black Boys Code to teach and reinforce the skills of coding. Last Saturday I got the chance to dive into the surface of Artificial intelligence (AI) Models and how they work. We had some great conversation, watched some videos about some current AI models and even did an activity signifying how to train an AI model. It was an honor to be supported by my team members: Sky Edwards, Oseriemen Ivbaze, Bernard Snowden and others. It was later followed by a wonderful demonstration by the Salesforce team (Hytham Bajes, India Abdul-Salaam, Aylissa Moore, Zuri M., Dwayne Benjamin. M.S., Kamau Nickerson, Paul Brar, Kiayni S., Whitney French, MSHI, Malcolm Bassett) talking about their different roles at Salesforce and how they came into their specific positions. The team even spent some one-on-one time with some of our boys, answering some questions they had and encouraging them to dream bigger. Special thanks go out to the Black Boys Code Team for such an opportunity and to the people of Salesforce. #YouthEmpowerment #BelieveEmpowerEducateEmpathize #LeadershipDevelopment #FutureLeaders #EducationalConsultant #BlackBoysCode #AIForGood #TechEducation #InspiringTheNextGeneration #CommunityImpact #EmpowerYoungMinds #DiversityInTech #EducationMatters #Mentorship #SocialImpact

Les Nord C’est Nous! Everyone deserves an opportunity to get in the game! That’s why this past week as our Toronto Raptors were in Montreal for their preseason Training Camp, MLSE Foundation celebrated the opening of the Oscar Peterson Court, with the support of our friends at Subway. We also teamed up with the National Basketball Association (NBA) Foundation to grant $275,000 to Black Boys Code, a national organization empowering youth through STEM. Big thanks to everyone who made this possible. Special shoutouts to my team Curtis Lue, Rishav Das and Chloe Cornacchia. And to Tashshena McLean for representing us so well in her hometown. Merci à tous! #changethegame #sport MLSE (Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Partnership)

This year, on #Juneteenth, we hope that our Black Boys Code community finds time to rest while they reflect. Rest was the much-deserved portion for the enslaved people who were finally informed of their freedom years after the Emancipation Proclamation was announced. Today, as we honor the lives and legacies of those who played a role in bringing about change, we also hope our community finds time for unapologetic and uninterrupted rest – because it was fervently fought for and eluded our ancestors for far too long.
