  • We were pleased to welcome the Minister of Health, Sylvia Jones, and Will Bouma, MPP for Brantford–Brant, to Brant Community Healthcare System yesterday. The visit included a tour of our Brantford General Hospital site, where we highlighted our hospital community and toured the areas under renovation, supported by the provincial government’s recently announced funding. We appreciate the opportunity to share insights about BCHS and look forward to continued collaboration in addressing the healthcare needs of our community. Thank you, Minister Jones, for taking the time to visit and learn more about our hospital!

  • Brant Community Healthcare System is honoured to have received two beautiful art pieces, created and generously donated by local Indigenous artist, Alicia-Lynn Morin. Grounded largely in her upbringing of being Woodland Cree, these paintings hold incredible significance to the importance of connecting with the earth, each other, and ourselves. Turtle Island: “This painting is to symbolize our connection to community, that we are stronger together in groups with our growth as individuals, as we heal, we are learning who we are as individuals, and to continue healing the ways the mother creator guides us to. The path to our home will always be guided. Listen to your spirit. To also represent the Land that this city was built on is a big reminder of reconciliation among us all".” Thunderbird / Phoenix: “This is a spirit animal, which symbolizes rebirth, transformation, and hope. Many indigenous peoples also would say a thunderbird and phoenix are the same. But some may also say that the phoenix rose from the ashes, and was reborn, even though we feel defeated and broken or at a loss, we can always rise again. Keep fighting and know that the creator is on our side, and we can heal and be healed with hope and internal transformation.” Turtle Island is on display outside the Chapel at Brantford General Hospital A-Wing Level 2, while Thunderbird/Phoenix is being much appreciated in our Inpatient Mental Health Unit ❤️

  • In healthcare, clinical research is associated with large teaching hospitals. However, the Brantford General Hospital has quietly become a leader in community-based clinical care research and is now recognized throughout Canada. “The BGH Critical Care Unit (CCU) has become one of the top community hospital enrolling centres, often ranking first or near the top in the country,” Dr. Brenda Reeve, an anesthetist and intensivist said. Working closely with other academic and community hospitals, the BCHS (Brantford General Hospital and Willett Hospital, Paris) is creating a network of researchers that collaborates on both current and future clinical trials. “The latest evidence and medications from this research are a valuable benefit for our CCU patients. We are very proud of our work.” 📰 Read the full Hospital Insider article 🔗 https://shorturl.at/HGXmY
