  • New Emergency Department Walk-in Entrance opening Monday, October 7th! This new entrance, located adjacent to the ambulance drop-off area on Terrace Hill Street, will be the new primary public entrance for all patients and visitors accessing the Brantford General Hospital Emergency Department (ED) and will be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The A-Wing entrance will no longer be considered the primary public entrance for the ED and will return to being an entrance for non-emergency use. Its previous daily hours of operation of 5:30 am – 9 pm will resume on Monday, October 7th. If you are visiting the hospital after hours, please enter through the Emergency Department Walk-in Entrance. These changes are permanent and will positively enhance patient navigation and direct access to the Emergency Department at BGH. • In healthcare, clinical research is associated with large teaching hospitals. However, the Brantford General Hospital has quietly become a leader in community-based clinical care research and is now recognized throughout Canada. “The BGH Critical Care Unit (CCU) has become one of the top community hospital enrolling centres, often ranking first or near the top in the country,” Dr. Brenda Reeve, an anesthetist and intensivist said. Working closely with other academic and community hospitals, the BCHS (Brantford General Hospital and Willett Hospital, Paris) is creating a network of researchers that collaborates on both current and future clinical trials. “The latest evidence and medications from this research are a valuable benefit for our CCU patients. We are very proud of our work.” 📰 Read the full Hospital Insider article 🔗 https://shorturl.at/HGXmY

  • Plans to build a new hospital took a major step forward on Thursday when the Honourable Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario, visited the City of Brantford to attend a barbecue hosted by Brantford-Brant MPP Will Bouma. During his visit, Ford announced that the province will be providing BCHS with a planning grant in support of building a new hospital, in addition to providing further funding to assist with the critical infrastructure problems at Brantford General Hospital. “This is a very exciting day for Brantford, Brant County and the region,” said Paul Emerson, chair of the redevelopment and properties committee of the Brant Community Healthcare System Board. “It has taken a lot of work by a lot of people including, the mayors and Bouma, to get the new hospital initiative this far.” “Thank you Premier Ford, MPP Bouma, and our local political leaders for all of your support. This is wonderful news for our patients and our community,” said Bonnie Camm, BCHS President & CEO. 📣 Read the full article by The Brantford Expositor here: https://lnkd.in/eun48m9q ➡️ Visit www.reimaginebchs.ca for further details on our hospital redevelopment project. #ReimagineBCHS #Hospitals #ED #BrantfordBrant Doug Ford | Sylvia Jones | Will Bouma | Anthony Leardi | Kevin Davis | Ontario Hospital Association | City of Brantford | County of Brant | Rose Sicoli | Catherine Wang

Did You Know? 203,915 diagnostic imaging procedures were performed at the Brant Community Healthcare System during the 2023-2024 fiscal year. This busy department at the BCHS needs your help. Due to several pieces of equipment being end of life, to ensure uninterrupted and continuing service to the community, and to take advantage of technological improvements which would benefit our patients, the BCHS requires multiple pieces of imaging equipment. From digital mammography, to ultrasound technology, to a gamma camera, and MRI. Together, the cost to replace this necessary technology totals over $6 million. “As a local physician, I recognize that much of the technology we work with daily is available to patients because of donor dollars. I am so grateful for the generosity of our community that puts the tools in the hands of our staff to care for our patients. We are turning to you once again and asking our community to come together and help us purchase new technology and replacement equipment to benefit patient care,” states Dr. Angela Fleming, Chief and Medical Director, Department of Diagnostic Imaging. • The BCHS Environmental Services team represents a remarkable group of hard working, compassionate and caring people who work collaboratively with all departments to meet the needs of our patients. ESAs are the frontline defense against serious infections and transmission. They are the team who transports our patients, specimens, medical equipment, and respond to many codes including aqua, navy, blue, and transfusion. They provide all units with the linen required to support the care of our patients. The waste management team removes and follows segregation guidelines of our regular, recycling, confidential, and biomedical waste to support a clean and sustainable environment. They are the 'move team' that helps with office and department changes throughout the organization. Our ESAs play a vital role in the overall operations of our facility and their knowledge and skill set not only keep BCHS running smoothly, but helps contribute to positive and quality patient care. Thank you to all our Environmental Services team for your hard work, dedication and outstanding customer service each and every day, 24/7 💜💛 #EnvironmentalServicesWeek

  • 📣 Terrace Hill Street Re-opens Today! To facilitate early renovation works, BCHS in collaboration with the City of Brantford temporarily closed Terrace Hill Street from St. Paul Avenue to Elizabeth Street on Monday, October 16, 2023. While the renovation project continues, the outside work, which required the street closure, is now complete and the road has reopened today on Monday, September 9th. “We know it was very inconvenient for everyone during the road closure and your support during that time enabled us to get critical outside work done related to our ambulance off-load area and installing a new ED patient door,” said BCHS’s ED Project Coordinator, Dan DeJonge. "This is great news for everyone, and we thank you for your patience and cooperation.” The A-Wing continues to be the public entrance to the Emergency Department until the new patient walk-in entrance opens in early Fall.
