When planning our new location on Wright Blvd in Stratford, we planned on showcasing the ease and reliability of incorporating renewable energy sources. The original shop and offices plus our 2023 expansion (17,500sq ft) use geothermal heat pumps and hydronic floor heat for all HVAC needs. The rooftop solar array has been expanded to 109KW of solar panels (83KW net) connected to a net metered service. This means the entire facility is carbon free (no fossil fuels or fuel bill) plus net zero electricity consumption. We also have EV charging on site for an increasing number of electric vehicles. Very sobering to think that a commercial building containing dynamic trade shops and offices, can be completely renewable, carbon free, and substantially energy independent, using the highest quality systems, for approximately 10-15% of the cost of the building it serves….even before tax credits and accelerated capital cost allowances!!
