A little bit from our co-founder Noura Mutairi and team in Cairo for Kotn's first ever Cairo Residency with Sean Brown!
Heart has been so full the past few months working on the very first Kotn Cairo residency with Sean Brown. If you are not already a fan of Kotn you should be. On top of timeless design and quality being engrained in their DNA - kotn is a brand built on honouring the people that make them and the places they’re made. From building lasting communities with their cotton farmers in the Nile Delta and Faiyum regions of Egypt, to funding education for the next generation through The ABC’s project (which has built 15 schools to date), Kotn has always created space to honour its roots. Now with the Cairo residency Kotn has opened the doors to exploring the culture behind the brand as they bring creatives to visit and immerse themselves in Cairo through the eyes of locals. Sean, I am so excited to see what you create. Planning this event, being so close to home and hosting new and old friends that mean the world to me has been such a privilege. I am so grateful to the Kotn team for trusting us with their vision and to Rami Helali for showing us his home. The creative community in Cairo - you are inspiring, kind, welcoming and left us in awe of your spirit. Even through difficult times the Egyptian energy is infectious and watching my foreign friends feel at home in your streets was beautiful. Malak Diab this would not be possible without you. Sana Jaffery the visionary behind the incredible art direction of the event, Lucie Quinlan my right hand, Paula Sapinoso and Sonia Fujikawa - the glue that keeps it all together. We are so lucky we got to do this with you. We’ll be back soon!

Every year on National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, Cheekbone Beauty Cosmetics INC launches a limited edition product where 100% of the proceeds go towards their scholarship fund for Indigenous Students. This year on Sept 29th we had the honour of working with Cheekbone to curate a fully interactive event at the TikTok Headquarters in Toronto, where our community came to learn and listen to the cultural teachings of truth and reconciliation, and engage in dialogue about Indigenous Culture. A special thank you to Deanne Hupfield for sharing the pow wow dance and the impacts of residential school systems and Delia Estelle for the beadwork workshop and helping us understand the meaning behind the art form. This was a truly special project for our team and community. Can't thank the Cheekbone team enough for allowing us to be part of their incredible mission. #eventproduction #nationaldayoftruthandreconciliation #orangeshirtday #cheekbonebeauty #beautyindustry #indigenousbusiness #influencermarketing
