KPMG Canada reports that with nearly a 10% jump in cyberattacks last year, Canadian business leaders rank cybersecurity as the No. 1 threat to their growth. Retail Council of Canada reports that Canadians plan to spend more this holiday season, despite financial challenges. Holiday spending is set to reach $972 on average, an 8% increase from last year. Still, they look for deals in the face of ongoing inflation concerns https://t.ly/KaSAG

Dockworkers at the Port of Montreal started a new strike Oct 31 paralyzing 40% of Canada's 2nd-biggest port. The Viau and Maisonneuve terminals are closed until further notice. The latest strike involves up to 320 country's second-biggest port. workers. https://t.ly/Azfr2

Workers of Canada Post / Postes Canada voted in favour of a strike, but as of today, the CUPW Union has not given a 72-hour strike notice to Canada Post or the Minister of Labour. The union is hoping to reach agreements without any service disruptions https://t.ly/cYMc6

Indeed reports that in Canada job postings were down 17% year-over-year and 2% below February 2020 levels, aligning with pre-pandemic baselines across most sectors. The jobless rate ticked up to 6.5% in September from 6.4% in June 2024 https://t.ly/ja0B3
