At the end of October, our entire Calgary Meals on Wheels team had the honor of coming together for a day of Indigenous cultural awareness training. This experience was not only deeply moving, but it also offered us powerful insights into the history, resilience, and rich traditions of Indigenous Peoples. One key takeaway from our day was learning about Indigenous Veterans Day on November 8. This day honors the remarkable courage and sacrifices of Indigenous veterans who have served our country and our communities. Too often, their contributions are overlooked, so this is a time to remember and pay tribute. As we continue to serve our community, we’re more mindful of the importance of building strong, inclusive relationships. We’re committed to honoring the stories, voices, and strengths of Indigenous Peoples—not only today but every day. Thank you to our team for embracing this experience and thank you to Inspired Connections Consulting, who led us through this journey of remembrance, respect, and learning. 🌿 For more information about the contributions of Indigenous Veterans, check out this video: https://shorturl.at/IFm1x

Calgary Meals on Wheels and the In Place Social Prescribing Network are thrilled to announce a powerful new partnership aimed at tackling food insecurity among Calgary's older adults. Together, we’re providing crucial, short-term nutritional support to Calgarians aged 55+ who need it most. With the help of social workers from In Place, eligible clients can now receive direct referrals for home-delivered meals from Calgary Meals on Wheels. For up to 30 days, participants will enjoy daily lunch and supper, customized to meet dietary needs. This initiative offers immediate relief and builds pathways to long-term food security and well-being. This partnership, proudly funded by the Government of Alberta's Continuing Care grant, showcases the impact we can make together in supporting the health of our community’s seniors. 🫶 A huge thank you to everyone involved! Let’s continue working towards a future where every Calgarian has access to nutritious food and support. #CalgaryMealsOnWheels #InPlaceNetwork #CommunitySupport #FoodSecurity #CalgarySeniors #HealthyAging #SocialPrescribing

This Thanksgiving I am thankful to announce my new role as Chair of the Willow Park Charity Golf Classic. I would like to thank Jennifer Davison for her outstanding leadership, mentorship, and dedication to making this tournament, which I often refer to as "the best amateur golf tournament in Canada", even better. I have been on this committee for 5 years now and the passion and care for our community that the committee, sponsors, players, and volunteers show is truly remarkable. I am committed to continuing the outstanding work all of our past chairs have done to elevate this prestigious event. Please reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, ideas, or would like to become involved. Lastly, thank you to the committee for trusting me with this role. I am looking forward to working with Calgary Meals on Wheels to raise some big money in 2025!

This week, our friends at Pembina Pipeline Corporation showed us the true power of community by dedicating not just one, but two Days of Caring to support Calgary Meals on Wheels! 🙌🍽️ With a shortage of volunteers, their willingness to step up couldn’t have come at a better time. The Pembina teams helped deliver meals to our clients, ensuring that our neighbors continue to receive the nutrition and care they deserve. 💖 To everyone at Pembina, your commitment and compassion are an inspiration. Thank you for your time, energy, and kindness. Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected community. #ThankYou #VolunteerAppreciation #CommunitySupport #CalgaryMealsOnWheels #YYCNonProfit
