  • 👯👯 DAY FOUR of Fairy Tales! Hard to believe our time together’s coming to an end already… Join us & our market artists in closing out 26 years of Queer film together with ❣️🏦 1:00 p.m. : LESVIA LESVIA chronicles 40+ years of lesbian identity and conflict between the locals of a small village on the Greek island of Lesvos and lesbians who arrived searching for love, freedom and community. Since the 1970s, lesbians from around the world have been drawn to the island of Lesvos, birthplace of the ancient Greek poet Sappho. When they find paradise in a local village and carve out their own lesbian community, tensions simmer with the local residents. With both groups claiming ownership of lesbian identity, filmmaker Tzeli Hadjidimitriou — a native and lesbian herself — is caught in the middle and chronicles 40+ years of love, community, conflict, and what it means to feel accepted. 🌳💫 3:30 p.m. : PRIDE AND WISDOM: STORIES OF QUEER ELDERS Step into the rich tapestry of lives lived, loves cherished, and battles won as you journey through this evocative short film collection. Delve into the untold stories and resilient spirits of queer elders, each film a luminous window into a world where time’s passage is marked by triumphs, setbacks, and unyielding authenticity. 💃🕺 6:00p.m. : CABARET In Berlin in 1931, American cabaret singer Sally Bowles (Liza Minnelli) meets British academic Brian Roberts (Michael York), who is finishing his university studies. Despite Brian’s confusion over his sexuality, the pair become lovers, but the arrival of the wealthy and decadent playboy Maximilian von Heune (Helmut Griem) complicates matters for them both. This love triangle plays out against the rise of the Nazi party and the collapse of the Weimar Republic. It’s your last chance to cheer, cry & celebrate Queerness with us. You know where to find us 😉 See you at the movies! 🌈🎥 https://lnkd.in/g7pF6iMg #FairyTales26 #QueerArtsYYC #YYCfilm #YYCevents #QueerCalgary
