In addition to 22 bucking horses being selected to compete at the National Finals Rodeo, Stampede is sure to be well represented in Las Vegas as Calgary Stampede Ranch Manager, Tyler Kraft, was also announced as one of the two pick-up men selected for the NFR! Making his second consecutive NFR appearance as a pick-up man, the selected Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Pick-Up Horse of the Year for the second year in a row also belongs to Kraft. "Guys High on Fame," better known as Tuffy, will also make the trip to Las Vegas in December! Join us in congratulating Tyler, Tuffy and the Stampede horses on a fantastic year!

Today, we welcome an iconic piece of Stampede history to the archives! The Herron Car, familiar with Stampede Parade fans as the ride for Parade Marshal’s including Jann Arden and Paul Brandt as well as Harry the Horse, was generously donated by Dick Koetsier to the Calgary Stampede Foundation. Originally owned by Bill Herron, the iconic car, built specially for the Stampede Parade by Nudie Cohn, includes many elaborate western touches including six-shooters for door handles and shift levers, horse heads for control knobs and the inside covered with hand-tooled leather. Most notably, the car was finished off with chrome-tipped Texas longhorns! As a long-time staple of the Calgary Stampede Parade, the Herron Car will make its new home in the Calgary Stampede Collections and Archive. In honour of one of the many stories of Stampede, the Herron Car was donated at Sam Centre, where Stampede’s greatest stories are given new life every day through multimedia shows, interactive exhibits and more! Join in on Stampede’s living legacy at Sam Centre.

Here at the Calgary Stampede, great efforts are made to donate surplus food from events across Stampede Park to local groups in need. Since May of this year, we have donated 25,500 meals to local groups including the Drop-In Centre, Calgary Dream Centre, Community Kitchen and Salvation Army. Donations coming from Stampede Park range from frozen chicken strips, potatoes and cotton candy from the Midway, to sandwiches, meats, pasta and desserts from year-round events. A big shoutout goes to the numerous teams that support these effort, creating positive social and environmental impacts throughout our community!

Happy Thanksgiving from the Calgary Stampede! As we gather with friends and family, we are reflecting on what makes our community so special. This Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for the connections we’ve made within and beyond our city, the opportunities we have to gather and to celebrate, and the spirit of giving that thrives here. We are thankful for Calgary. Forever.

We were proud to host Calgary Economic Development Economic Outlook in the Champions Ballroom in the BMO Centre earlier this week, where local leaders gathered to discuss valuable insights about local, national and international economic trends that will shape business in the year ahead. As a Team Calgary Member, we were honoured for the opportunity to participate and showcase our new world-class space with attendees.

This morning, we proudly opened the 17 Ave SE Extension into Stampede Park, completing the Victoria Park/Stampede Station rebuild project. We’re excited to welcome everyone with this new entrance that celebrates our Western heritage! The extension, now named Flores LaDue Parade, along with the redesigned Victoria Park Stampede Station, improves access for guests arriving by car, foot, rideshare, or transit. 🚶🚗🚖🚋 Naming the roadway after Flores LaDue honors an iconic Calgary Stampede figure and reflects the celebratory spirit of the space. This new roadway and LRT station enhance the arrival experience for conventions, events, hockey games and of course our Stampede festival in July!
