Let’s Talk Taxes 2025! In April 2024, City Council approved an 8.9 percent increase in municipal taxes, the highest increase in more than a decade, and everyone – businesses, owners, City Councillors, and Administration alike, seemed disappointed. Nonetheless, headlines in August 2024 indicate that we could see an 8.8 to 13 per cent increase in 2025 as the city faces a current $88 million shortfall. So, what’s going on and can we do? Budget cuts, getting back to core services, leveraging dollars from other governments, and other revenue streams are being discussed as strategies to mitigate another tax increase. BOMA Edmonton and NAIOP Edmonton are pleased to present a session for building owners and others interested in digging deeper into taxation and assessment in Edmonton in 2025. First, an animated group of panelists will delve into what’s working, what isn’t working, and how to move forward. Second, all luncheon attendees are invited to have their say on what they think the City should cut and prioritize in the upcoming budget. You’ll leave better informed and with a sense of what’s being done and can be done to improve balance, fairness, and transparency when it comes to our tax bills as building owners and tenants. You’ll also help shape our feedback to the City in this upcoming budget cycle. Register now: https://lnkd.in/g-DwhC4Q

  • Lots of fun and team building was had during the Cameron Developments Accounting Summer event at Kinsmen park on Friday afternoon. The staff brought their children to join us for lunch and participate in a wide range of activities such as ax throwing, soccer, card sorting, running relay, bocce ball and potato sack race. Thank you to everyone who participated to make this afternoon so great, can’t wait for next year!

  • Jasper is a place that holds many dear memories for our company and its people. A beautiful refuge for our corporate retreats and a favourite vacation spot year round for our employees. Our hearts go out to the wonderful people of Jasper that have been displaced from their homes and livelihoods. Until July 31, the Government of Canada and Government of Alberta are matching every dollar donated by Canadians so please give while you can make the most impact. Canadian Red Cross - https://lnkd.in/g6P3K7g3 And for those from Jasper that were affected by the fires, our centres at South Edmonton Common and Manning Town Centre (NE Edmonton) have tenants that are offering specific aid and promotions to them. These will be posted here and on those centre websites shortly.

  • Last Friday, the Women of Cameron group participated in the 2nd Annual YEG WILD (Edmonton Women in Land Development) golf Tournament. This event was a great reminder of what YEG WILD is all about; fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where women in the land development industry can connect, learn and have fun together. It was the perfect end cap to a long and hot week! Cameron Corporation is a proud supporter of YEG Wild.
