We have a new blog post on why the initial sticker price of an air filter can be misleading. Air filter expert Jon Holmes says, “I, too, want to get the best bang for my buck when I’m making purchases. I totally understand why people want to get the best price they possibly can. But if they only knew the other 80% that goes into the total cost of running an air filter, they would reconsider that focus on only price. Let’s say you want the lowest unit price as your number one goal, but you also want the longest life. In that case, you’re not going to get sustained air quality.” He illustrates this further by stating, “If you use a screen door instead of an air filter, you get a very low price and very long life, but you wouldn’t get any protection from contaminants aside from protection from mosquitos.” Cheap air filters provide very little protection for people and HVAC equipment. Camfil Canada celebrates the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. ☁ 🔆 The International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer is a day to celebrate the ozone layer and the efforts that have been made to protect it. The ozone layer is a shield of gas that protects the earth from harmful ultraviolet radiation from the sun. It is located in the stratosphere, about 10 to 50 kilometers above the earth's surface. The ozone layer is important for life on earth because it protects us from skin cancer, cataracts, and other health problems. 🚫 In the 1970s, scientists discovered that human-made chemicals called halocarbons were depleting the ozone layer. These chemicals were used in refrigerants, air conditioners, and other products. As a result, the ozone layer began to thin, especially over the polar regions. 🤝 In response to this threat, the international community came together to sign the Montreal Protocol in 1987. This agreement required countries to phase out the production and use of ozone-depleting substances. The Montreal Protocol has been a huge success, and the ozone layer is now beginning to recover. 😎🌐 The International Day for the Preservation of the #Ozone Layer is a reminder of the importance of protecting our planet. It is also a celebration of the success of the Montreal Protocol. We must continue to work together to protect the ozone layer and ensure a healthy future for our planet.
