With representatives from Circular Innovation Council, Canada’s leading grocery retailers, the City of Ottawa / Ville d’Ottawa, and Environment and Climate Change Canada, this session will explore the shared-pool model being piloted and the valuable lessons learned from its year-long design phase. The panel will highlight the specifics of this unique partnership, including the innovative shared reuse system being tested, performance objectives, and key insights gained thus far. Panelists—who are key collaborators in the pilot—will share their motivations, strategies, and experiences as they co- designed this collaborative effort. Lessons from the pilot’s implementation phase will serve as the foundation for expanding and scaling reuse programs to other markets and applications beyond food. Cher Mereweather, Managing Director of the Canada Plastics Pact joined Canadian Tire Corporation’s Petrol Division & Product Stewardship, and EcoTank Canada earlier this month to promote the expansion of their bulk windshield washer fluid dispensers at select Gas+ locations in Ontario and Quebec This was an opportunity to showcase how accessible and convenient refilling can be while making an impact on reducing plastic usage. In a three-hour period,150 customers tried the EcoTank dispensers, saving on the equivalent of 62 plastic jugs. To date, this initiative has saved 7,600 jugs from production, a diversion of 1,700 Kg of plastic from our landfills. Stay tuned for more updates on CPP's Reuse Accelerators!
