As we enter our fourth year of calling for inclusive, sustainable and long-term economic growth, the Coalition’s national voice is more important than ever. While in some ways Canada is better off, we are deeply concerned by key performance indicators that show our economy is heading in the wrong direction. This will have substantial opportunity costs for our society. In every community we visit, we see the consequences this is having for Canadians. Economic growth is not an abstract concept only discussed in boardrooms and political circles. It’s the driving force that ensures we can put food on our tables, go to work, take care of our children and seniors and those most vulnerable, and ensure the air we breathe is clean. Committed to action, the Coalition will use our convening power to rally Canadians on this critical question: What does economic growth mean to you? Join the conversation here and share this with your network! #GrowthForAllCdns #cdnpoli #cdnecon https://lnkd.in/eZ5TPUfy

Sharing my op ed from last week where I talk about the cause for concern when Canadians, especially younger generations, don’t see how their well-being is served by a strong and healthy economy, let alone increased productivity. Until we start talking about productivity in a way that highlights the very real downstream benefits for everyday Canadians, they won’t trust that growth matters, and policymakers won’t have a reason to make it a priority. Here is one way to frame the problem: Canada is using a screwdriver where other countries are using a power-drill! https://lnkd.in/eTRAn55Y

Thank you, The Prosperity Project, for recognizing our co-chair, the Hon. Lisa Raitt, who is committed to community building and fostering a more inclusive society for all Canadians. As highlighted in the Coalition's latest Scorecard Report (https://lnkd.in/gxUnBerJ), substantial work remains to achieve our 2030 target of women occupying 50 percent of senior management roles. TPP is working to help break down barriers and generate more meaningful employment opportunties for women. #BetterFutureForCanada #GrowthForAllCdns
As Women’s History Month comes to a close, we want to take a moment to thank all the incredible women who continue pushing barriers and demanding better. 👏 As the final #WomenWednesday, we’re proud to highlight the Hon. Lisa Raitt. A former federal cabinet minister, Lisa held three portfolios: Natural Resources, Labour, and Transport, and now serves as Vice-Chair of Global Investment Banking at CIBC. Despite her busy schedule, Lisa remains deeply committed to her community, serving on numerous boards. She also is the Co-chair for Coalition for a Better Future, where TPP is proud to be a member. Her leadership and community commitment inspire us all. 💛 #theprosperityproject #womenshistorymonth #WomensHistoryMonth2024 #womenempowerment #mentorher #careergrowth #leadership

Thank you to the University of Alberta for hosting the Coalition for a Better Future yesterday. It was a Campus Tour event filled with insightful dialogue from students and faculty about how to build a more #inclusive and #sustainable economy. Our co-chairs, the Honourable A Anne McLellan, P.C., O.C.,A.O.E. and the Hon. Lisa Raitt were grateful to have had Simon Dyer, Deputy Executive Director of the Pembina Institute, join them in a conversation moderated by Dr. Marvin Washington, Dean of the College of Social Sciences & Humanities. A special thank you to Andrea Hepp, P.Eng, President of Atlas Carbon Storage at Shell, for her participation. Coalition polling has shown a growing sense of pessimism among young Canadians about their future. To build a stronger, more sustainable economy, conversations with Canada's youth that engage and empower them to share their thoughts and solutions about how economic growth can improve their futures are more important than ever. Thank you to the Coalition members who came out and supported the event. And thank you to CTV News Edmonton, Edmonton Journal, Global News Edmonton, and CBC Edmonton AM for the coverage. 🤝 By working together, we can build a more #prosperous country for all Canadians. We're grateful for Shell Canada's support in making our Campus Tour series possible.
