Following the #NationalMentalHealthDay, I am filled with immense pride and emotion as I announce the completion of Phase II of our national research project ! After five years of dedicated research, in partnership with the Federation of Law Societies of Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, and with the collaboration of all Canadian #lawsocieties, we have reached a significant milestone. Today, I am honored to officially release our research reports, one for each #Canadian province, the three territories, and a comprehensive #nationalreport, offering unprecedented insights into the #wellbeing of #legalprofessionals across the country. A second phase towards a sustainable practice of law in Canada, funded by SSHRC-CRSH. This work represents the culmination of over 75 interviews conducted across the country in the past two years, paired with data collected from 7,305 legal professionals. All the reports are available here : 👇 https://lnkd.in/eEJ_FwXq These reports reflect not only the voices and experiences of legal professionals regarding their #mentalhealth but also celebrate the vital initiatives led by key players in the Canadian legal community over the past few years. I vividly remember the overwhelming sense of responsibility that gripped me at the start of this five-year endeavor. The weight of the task ahead was daunting—knowing the profound importance this project would hold for the many legal professionals who, day after day, face challenges in their practice. Looking back, I feel deeply privileged to have earned the trust and commitment of the legal community throughout this research. To each of you who believed in this work, thank you ! I have to highlight the remarkable dedication of my research team, without whom this project would not have been possible : Jean Cadieux Marie-Michelle Gouin, Ph.D., CRIA, Rémi Labelle Deraspe, PhD, CRHA, Geneviève Robert-Huot, Jacqueline Dahan. A special thank you to Marc-André Bélanger, my research professional, whose invaluable contributions have been a cornerstone of this journey along with the hard work of all my research assistants during this project. : Audree B. Camille M.Sc. CRHA, Amira Driss, Josbert Gahunzire, Eveline Morin, Marie-Louise Pomerleau, Chloé St-Jacques, CRHA Léa Hovington. I hope this is not the end, but rather the beginning. One more step toward a healthier and sustainable practice of law in Canada.
