On September 8, the annual CCFA BBQ came to a successful close, continuing a cherished tradition that brings together CCFA alumni and newcomers to Canada. Many participants joined the event to network with experienced professionals in the finance industry and build connections. This year’s BBQ not only featured a wide array of delicious grilled foods and a buffet but also included engaging activities like icebreaker games, a mini “Olympics,” and an exciting raffle. CCFA President Emily introduced two key initiatives designed to support young professionals in their career development: the weekly Friday Drop-in Coffee Chats and a series of interviews with 100 finance professionals on Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book). The event also welcomed guest speakers Ivy, a partner at a Big Four accounting firm, and Bill, a project manager in the government sector, who both shared valuable insights into job opportunities within their fields. Additionally, Sarah from Enoch Wealth and Sandra from Mi Bowl, representing the event’s sponsors, provided further career information and opportunities. Supported by several professional associations, the event seamlessly combined delicious food, networking, and entertainment. One particularly memorable moment occurred when strong winds and unexpectedly cool weather prompted volunteers to quickly purchase hot coffee for guests. Their efforts, along with their humorous at the end of the event, added warmth and lightheartedness to the day. A heartfelt thanks goes to the volunteers whose dedication made the event such a success: Newton, Derrick, Yilan, Lili, Candice, Jay, Charley, Mark, Luyang, Sophy, Betty, Monica, Kevin, Audrey, and Steven. Their hard work ensured the event’s smooth execution and success. Special thanks to our photographer & video editor Klonny Yubin Zheng, thank you for all your amazing work!👏
