Magna Mining to acquire Sudbury copper mine from KGHM for $5.3 million Magna Mining has agreed to purchase a portfolio of base metal assets from a subsidiary of KGHM International. The deal, announced on Sept. 11, 2024, includes the McCreedy West copper mine, along with three other past-producing mines in the Sudbury basin mining district: Levack, Podolsky and Kirkwood. Magna will also acquire exploration properties, including the Falconbridge footwall and Northwest Foy, among others.

MedaTech Borterra to debut new drill at MINExpo 2024 MedaTech Borterra is launching a new drill, the RaisePro-48T, at MINExpo 2024. This drill can handle four different types of underground drilling jobs, making the process easier and more efficient for miners.

Canada Nickel secures backing for up to $500 million to advance Crawford project Canada Nickel announced on Sept. 11, 2024, that it has received a support letter from a leading financial institution expressing interest in providing up to $500 million in long-term debt financing for the development of its Crawford nickel sulphide project in the Timmins-Cochrane mining camp. The terms and conditions, including pricing, will depend on further due diligence and discussions involving lenders, their advisors and Canada Nickel’s financial team.

Metso’s new hydrocyclone boosts capacity and cuts waste Metso has launched its latest hydrocyclone, the MHC CB (curved bottom), designed to make mineral processing more efficient. The new model is part of Metso's MHC family and focuses on increasing capacity while reducing fines and waste, giving a boost to grinding circuits.

Equinox to explore Canadian project with historical mining of up to 59.5% antimony ore Equinox Resources is set to begin due diligence on the Alps-Alturas project in the Slocan mining district of southeast British Columbia, a site known for its high-grade antimony ore. Historical records show that between 1915 and 1926, the project yielded 105 tonnes of ore with an average antimony grade of 57.2%. Some of this ore contained up to 59.5% antimony.

Canada Nickel hits 2.68% nickel over 6.5 metres at Texmont Canada Nickel announced positive exploration results from drilling across seven regional nickel properties in the Timmins-Cochrane mining district, with standout results at the Texmont property. Drilling at Texmont expanded high-grade mineralization to the north and at depth, with a highlight of 6.5 metres grading 2.68% nickel in hole TEX24-51.
