The recent announcement of new emissions cap regulations on the oil and gas sector in Canada raises concerning questions about the true impact of this policy on our economy and its potential impact on energy affordability. As winter approaches, many Canadians are worried about home heating costs. We encourage the government to carefully balance reliability, affordability and emissions reductions in its policy objectives. The 400 members of the Canadian Propane Association from across Canada are proud of the role propane plays in providing affordable energy for millions of Canadians daily. Our energy powers many sectors, from homes to school buses to grain dryers. Adding yet another layer of regulations will negatively impact our sector and the Canadians who depend on propane. #cdnpoli #energy #propane #energyforall

CPA’s Allan Murphy recently had a productive meeting with Manitoba Conservative MP Larry Maguire on Parliament Hill, where they discussed the role of propane as an affordable and reliable energy partner for communities across Canada. A highlight of the conversation? The impressive success of propane-powered school buses in the Brandon School Division, located right in Mr. Maguire's constituency. These buses not only support cleaner air for students and neighborhoods by replacing diesel buses but also help schools reduce fuel and maintenance costs, enhancing their budgets for other essential services. Propane is a cost-effective, lower-emission choice that meets the demands of today’s energy needs while paving the way for a greener tomorrow. 💧🚍 #PropanePower #AffordableEnergy #PropaneSchoolBuses #CanadianEnergy #schoolbuses #mbpoli

"We’re a real success story here – improving the health and wellbeing of our drivers, reducing the workload on mechanics, and increased student comfort on the road,” says Ron Harkness, Transportation Supervisor for Brandon School Division, MB. Today, over 80% of Brandon’s school buses run on propane. Since making the switch in 2014, the fleet has covered more than 5 million kms, cutting over 3.2 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions compared to diesel buses. Even the budget team is pleased with the results, as Ron notes they save about 30% of their annual operating costs. “We’re team players – by reducing our transportation budget, those savings go back into the school system for teachers, classroom aides, and other essential resources." While propane buses have a slightly higher upfront cost than diesel, they prove more economical over time with lower fuel and maintenance expenses. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/g5KxVq7w
