Connecting North American Businesses To Emerging Markets | International Marketing Strategist | Co-founder at Meeraki Media

💡 It’s pretty eye-opening to learn that while women own 31% of Canadian businesses, we receive only 3% of venture capital funding. I’ve always felt that these numbers don’t reflect the talent and potential out there, and it’s a challenge many of us have felt firsthand. That’s why I’m beyond excited to be part of the Flip The Script Fall Cohort with Canadian Women's Chamber of Commerce (CanWCC)! 🎉 Over the next six months, I’ll be working with an amazing group of entrepreneurs to not only learn how to have those tough investor conversations but to flip the narrative and claim the space we deserve. Through AI simulations, peer support, and practical learning, this program is about more than just securing funding—it’s about changing the game. For me, this journey is also about growth—both for my business and myself - and the best part? I get to do it alongside a community that truly understands the challenges and the opportunities ahead. While this cohort is already full, #CanWCC is constantly creating opportunities to connect. If you’re ready to grow your network and make an impact, check out their Monthly Community Networking events: https://canwcc.ca/join/ Here’s to challenging the status quo—one step at a time! 🚀✨

  • Today is international #EqualPayDay. Equal pay is an incredibly important part of economic equity. “Equal pay for equal work” was a rallying cry of the suffragettes demanding voting rights, and we’re still fighting for it today. Closing the pay gap is important not only for women but also for our economy. Swipe through these images to learn how close we are to #EqualPay now, estimated timelines to achieving parity and ways to take action. #EconomicEquity #PayGap

    • "International Equal Pay Day: International Equal Pay Day, celebrated on September 18, represents the ongoing efforts to achieve equal pay for work of equal value. Globally, women only make 77 cents for every dollar men earn. This is a major cause of lifetime income inequality. Achieving equal pay is a crucial milestone for advancing human rights and gender equality. It requires the collective effort of the global community, and there is still much work to be done. We need everyone—businesses, workers, and employers’ organizations—to actively promote equal pay and support the economic empowerment of women and girls. Via UN Women. September 18, 2024."
    • "International Equal Pay Day: The Global Gender Gap Index annually benchmarks the current state and evolution of gender parity. Based on current data, it will take 134 years to reach full parity 2024 Timelines to Parity: Educational Attainment: 20 years (+4 years from 2023) Political Empowerment: 169 years (+7 years from 2023) Economic Participation & Opportunity: 152 years (-17 years from 2023). On Gender Parity in North America: ‘While levels are high, change is slow: when taking into account the entire time series, Northern America has made virtually no progress in closing the economic gender gap since 2006 (+0.7 percentage points).’ Via The 2024 Global Gender Gap Index by World Economic Forum.
