We're thrilled to share that our very own 2024 Fellow, Scott Langille was featured as a panelist at the recent BetaKit Town Hall in Vancouver! 🎉 Scott, along with other BC tech leaders (Joshua Nilson, Anne Stevens, and Alison Taylor) discussed BC's growing innovation ecosystem, from the value of cross-sector connections to mentoring the next generation of builders. Scott's call for senior leaders to uplift young innovators resonated deeply, highlighting the importance of community, mentorship, and collaboration. Events like these remind us of the incredible drive within the Canadian tech scene to support homegrown talent. Announcing: V2 — A place to build the future. Last night I spoke at BetaKit's Vancouver Town Hall about the problems our community faces in bridging the ambitious and the accomplished. Now it's time to do something about it:
Announcing V2 — an open collective for technology, art, & science in Vancouver. Our core thesis: Growth emerges from the intersection of people creating across disciplines and experience levels. In 2025, V2 is hosting a series of experiments to test this hypothesis, including: - a residency program to go full time on new ideas - a large scale demos event showcasing Vancouver’s ambitious multidisciplinary projects - experimental salons focused on knowledge transfer Join us in making Vancouver a place where young people build the future. We’d like to thank Ross Kelley (’12 Fellow) and Chris Labelle (’13 Fellow) for their many years of passion and dedication to the Cansbridge Fellowship as they cede their Board of Directors positions. As members of the “Original Five” – along with Angelina Fomina ('12 Fellow), Christopher Brooks ('11 Fellow), and Robin Sim ('12 Fellow), they completely remade the Fellowship and launched it across Canada. They were integral to the growth and development of the Fellowship; methodologies and programming that they pioneered and executed on are still practiced to this day. "Cansbridge has had such a profound, positive impact on me over the last 12 years. My internship in Shanghai was a blast, personally and professionally. I made great friends, learned about corporate Chinese culture, and ate amazing food. Since then, I helped lead the organization, raised funds, made partnerships, and now have handed off the reins to the next generation of thoughtful, energetic, committed Fellows. Can’t wait to see what happens next!" - Ross Kelley ('12 Fellow) "Cansbridge has been such an incredible organization to be a part of, and have the opportunity to help grow. I've met some of my closest friends through the program, and established deeper bonds than I could have ever imagined. I couldn't be more excited for the future of the Fellowship, and to have new leaders come in to bring Cansbridge to the next level" - Chris Labelle ('13 Fellow) "As a Fellow, and now Executive Director, I am endlessly grateful for Chris and Ross' thousands of volunteer hours spent shaping the organization's program and unique culture as a 100% alumni-driven initiative. They've ascended to legendary Fellow status, and we'll all work hard to make them proud in the Fellowship's next evolution!" - Gabrielle Foss ('19 Fellow & Executive Director of The Cansbridge Fellowship) “We, and the Fellowship owe a debt of gratitude to Chris and Ross for their leadership, passion and dedication for their years of service. We would not be here today, enjoying the kind of resonance within the leadership-enhancement community in Canada, without their vision in the early days when we became independently administered, and then through all the years of stewardship. We’d also like to thank Christopher Brooks, Robin Sim and Angelina Fomina who served as founding Directors. They exemplify what Cansbridge Fellows can be, personally and professionally.” - Diana Liu and William Yu, co-founders of The Cansbridge Fellowship. The Cansbridge Fellowship is run by Fellows for Fellows. The program would not exist without the ongoing strong dedication and support of its incredible alumni!
