Avery Sheffield is Managing Director and Co-Founder, Chief Investment Officer & Senior Portfolio Manager of Vantage Rock, Rockefeller’s long/short equity hedge fund. Prior to joining Rockefeller in February 2020, Ms. Sheffield served as Portfolio Manager for MSD Capital, a private investment firm that manages the capital of Michael Dell and his family. Prior to MSD Capital, Ms. Sheffield spent over 6 years at Brandywine Global, where she was Portfolio Manager of the 30th Street Fund, a long/short equity hedge fund, and a Senior Equity Analyst on the US Large Cap Value Fund. Ms. Sheffield began her investment career as a Senior Research Associate on the US Hardlines Retail Team at Sanford Bernstein. Additionally, Ms. Sheffield previously worked primarily in the wireless industry in Silicon Valley. Ms. Sheffield received a B.A. in Neuroscience from Pomona College where she graduated summa cum laude, and an M.B.A from the Wharton School where she graduated as a Palmer Scholar (top 5% of the class).
