Yesterday, our Land & Expand founders visited London, ON to learn more about the medtech and agritech industries, set up by the London Economic Development Corporation (LEDC). The day started off with a bus tour of London's innovation park. Our founders then had the opportunity to tour TheGroveWFD, an agribusiness hub that provides resources and incubation space for startups and companies focused on innovative agricultural technology and food production. This was followed by a visit to BioNext, a collaborative workspace focused on accelerating biotechnology and life sciences startups, offering lab space, mentorship, and resources for biotech entrepreneurs and innovators. While we paused for lunch at the Western Research Parks we heard from John Pollock, a business development consultant at the LEDC with a background in angel investing. We wrapped up the day with a walking tour of Western Research Parks and Discovery Landing where we had the chance to see the collaborative space for startups and researchers, fostering breakthroughs in technology and applied sciences. A special shout out to Robert Collins and Josh Taylor for showing us around! We had a great time learning about the London Innovation ecosystem. 🚉For day two of the Hamilton-Niagara Bootcamp’s twin-city tour, we take off for Hamilton! 🛤️Yesterday, the Global Startups team with the Bootcamp participants journeyed to the various innovation-centric and some scenic locations within Hamilton city. 🧪First up on our list was a visit to McMaster Innovation Park, where after a coffee and light networking session, were presented by an overview of Hamilton and its innovation system by none other than Stefa Sokolowski, followed by a walking tour of the Innovation Park with Mark Stewart. 🔥The Innovation Factory / The Forge McMaster was next our stop with Ryan Moran, MBA and Leigh Wilson 💡As afternoon approached, we headed for a catered lunch at Tim Hortons Field, following which we attended a session on the Funding Incentives Presentations by BDC presented by Ismael Cepeda from BDC and Andrew McDowall & Gehan Mustafa Kamel Selim, Ph.D. from KPMG Canada. 🚌And next, a Mini Bus City Tour across the beautiful City Of Hamilton with stops at Pier 8, Harbrour Front, Farmers' market and more. 💼We wrapped our day with our final visit at Mohawk College with a walking tour of the college, and the Ideaworks and Agency Micro Centres, ending with the Centre for Entrepreneurship presentation with Ryan Anderson, Natalie R. and Genevieve Ahamad. 🌇The day ended with us witnessing the beautiful fall sunset as we headed back to Toronto at our Global Startups HQ.
