About us
CAWIC’s mandate is to facilitate the long-term success of women in Canada’s construction-related fields such as general contracting, trades, building products, architecture, engineering, interior design, and professional services. To accomplish this, CAWIC is in process of developing and implementing a variety of programs and services for women in construction-related fields including, but not limited to, the following: ▪ Affiliate programs ▪ Bursary programs ▪ Community outreach programs ▪ Educational seminars and workshops ▪ Fund raising ▪ Industry research and information exchange ▪ Liaison with industry, educational institutions, and trade and professional associations ▪ Mentoring programs ▪ Networking events ▪ Press releases The origin of CAWIC dates back to 1982, when a group of Toronto area professional women working in construction formed the Toronto Chapter 295 of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). The Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC) was incorporated as a non-profit organization in October 2005. In 2006 CAWIC aligned itself through affiliate agreements with NAWIC in the USA and Australia

CAWIC is pleased to participate in the Catalyst Inc. Honours Conference, which brings together business leaders and DEI champions to address critical issues facing women in the workplace. Today, while progress has been made, more action and focus is needed. More than one-third of board directors in Canada are women, and gender parity is on track to be reached by 2030. It was great to hear Catalyst Executive Director Julie Cafley, PhD specifically mention the challenges and needs facing women in construction. All of us play a role in leading a massive wave of positive and transformative change. #catalysthonours #thecatalysteffect
