In the midst of the summer heat, it's vital to underscore the significance of proper gasket storage. Did you know direct exposure to heat can accelerate the drying process of rubber gaskets, leading to potential cracking? This, in turn, poses a risk of leakage in concrete pipes. Let's ensure that gaskets are stored in indirect sunlight to maintain their integrity and uphold our infrastructure amidst rising temperatures. #concretepipe #precastconcrete #infrastructure #construction

A pivotal achievement in infrastructure development, KAPP Infrastructure Inc.'s partnership with DECAST delivered groundbreaking O-Series precast arches for four intricate creek crossings in the Greater Toronto Area. Spanning 16.76 meters with a rise of 4.2 meters, these precast units facilitated safe and efficient installation, provided robust protection for vital watermains, and ensured minimal traffic disruption. Designed to meet rigorous environmental standards, each culvert, ranging from 38.5 to 40 meters in length, required up to 18 precision-engineered precast units, each weighing approximately 40 tonnes. The engineering behind the O-Series ensures adequate frost cover protection for the watermains, shielding them from both the roadway above and the culvert below. Each culvert installation was completed within an impressive 40-day timeline, from engineering approval to onsite assembly, setting a new standard for efficiency and accelerated construction in infrastructure development. This project was completed on time, showcasing our commitment to excellence. Read more here: https://bit.ly/4cznbdl #precastconcrete #concreteconstruction #toronto #engineering

The Canadian Concrete Pipe & Precast Association (CCPPA) would like to thank the many engineering professionals from the City of Calgary, EPCOR, City of Lethbridge, and local consulting engineering firms that visited Precon to witness the external joint testing of concrete pipe. Special thanks to Hamilton Kent in setting up the demonstration of the Straub coupler used to perform an isolated joint test. This method of hydrostatic test minimizes the assembly of test equipment needed, and can also permit a wider range of test pressures for concrete pipe joints. The Deep Seal gasket was used with the concrete pipe for this hydrostatic test. Additional thanks to Cody Kibala, Isaque Nunes, and Trevis Hanson for organizing this very insightful event. #concretepipe #engineering #precastconcrete #professionaldevelopment
