Words matter. The term “white” can imply power and exclusion, which doesn’t align with our values of inclusion. Terms like "whitelist" and "blacklist" have already been updated—now it’s time to rethink the term "whitepaper." Let’s set a new standard for language that reflects respect and equality for everyone. Together, we can make a difference! #RethinkWhitepaper #ReflectRethinkRename #InclusiveLanguage #Microaggressions #Diversity #EquityInLanguage #CulturalSensitivity #SocialChange #LanguageMatters #Inclusion

We’re committed to reconciliation and inclusivity by moving away from terms like "whitepaper." Choosing inclusive language helps us align with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and support the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action (TRC). Together, let’s create materials that foster understanding and respect for all! #RethinkWhitepaper #ReflectRethinkRename #InclusiveLanguage #Reconciliation #UNDRIP #TruthAndReconciliation #CulturalAwareness #Diversity #EquityInLanguage #IndigenousRights
-
Why is renaming important? The term "whitepaper" has roots in racialized language and colonial history. In Canada, the White Paper of 1969 marginalized Indigenous voices, while the Indigenous-led Red Paper emphasized self-governance and respect for treaties. Together, let’s embrace inclusive language that supports reconciliation! #RethinkingLanguage #DecolonizeNow #InclusiveFuture #ReconciliationInAction #RethinkWhitepaper #ReflectRethinkRename
