🚨 NEW Expert Series Episode — Bilateral Defence Cooperation in the Arctic In today’s #ExpertSeries episode, Dr. James Fergusson discusses the continued importance of U.S.-Canada defence cooperation in Arctic, despite political and foreign policy shifts in the U.S. He highlights how #Canada's defence strategy remains closely tied to U.S. priorities—especially with #NORAD and aerospace defence—and also discusses the complex and long-term challenges of expanding Canadian defence infrastructure in the Arctic, particularly in relation to F-35 integration and the costs associated with such projects. Fergusson is cautious about the potential for major geopolitical conflict in the #Arctic, asserting that some of the threats might be overstated. The key issue identified for Canada is following through on defence commitments and maintaining strong diplomatic and military ties with the U.S. Listen now for expert insights: ➡️ YouTube – https://bit.ly/3Xd67EN ➡️ Spotify – https://spoti.fi/4islt0n #canada #northamerica #defence #security #defencepolicy #geopolitics #poilievre #DefenceIDEaS #DefenceNews #CanadianDefence #DefenceIndustry #DefenceScience #ArcticScience #DRDC #WellEquipped #wethenavy #canadianarmy

Tony Battista and Christopher Coates argue that, given the shifting global security environment and the Trump Administration's recalibration of U.S. foreign policy, Canada must take a proactive approach to strengthen its defence and economic strategies to navigate its increasingly complex relationship with the U.S. and its myriad security challenges. Key Insights: - Canada should strengthen its economic independence by developing a robust, self-reliant economic strategy. - Invest in defence, particularly through NORAD, to secure North America and meet NATO commitments. - Diversify trade relationships to reduce dependence on the U.S. and increase economic resilience. https://lnkd.in/gRfRf77z

📢 NEW POD: The Art of the Tariff: What Trump Wants from Canada and Implications of a Global Trade War Dr. Aaron Ettinger, Dan Ciuriak, Douglas Porter, and Érick Duchesne joined us to discuss the impact of U.S. tariffs on Canada, economic nationalism and the rationale behind the use of tariffs, and how Canada can respond by diversifying trade relationships, implementing retaliatory tariffs, and building economic resilience. The panel also touched on the potential impact of tariffs on key Canadian sectors, such as manufacturing and resources, and the broader continental and global implications, including the consequences of a shift toward protectionism and realignment in international trade, the state of America's global leadership, and how Canada can reduce its reliance on the U.S. market while navigating an increasingly fragmented global economy.
