About us

At Cedars we recognize that addiction disorders are treatable illnesses and that with specific care properly applied, abstinence and long-term success can be expected. Cedars at Cobble Hill is committed to ensuring that each patient receives the best possible treatment for their individual situation. This is accomplished by thorough assessment and re-assessment of how the patient is responding to treatment. All of our programs are invitational, never confrontational.

🌍 World Mental Health Day 🌍 Mental health can be challenging. Even in recovery we can find that it's hard to get up in the morning, we have difficulty focusing, our inner critic is loud, or we feel fear and anxiety about situations that used to come easy to us. One thing we gain in recovery is the ability to create new skills, live life differently, and to be kind. Another thing we're likely to gain is a loving community of people that are here to support us through the peaks and valleys of our lives. What we cannot do alone we can do together. Today, let’s come together to celebrate the power of connection, hope, and love. 💚 Connection: Reach out to someone today. A simple message or call can make a world of difference. We are stronger together. Hope: Even in the darkest times, there is light ahead. Believe in the possibility of better days. Hold on to hope. Love: Let’s spread love and understanding. Kindness and compassion can heal wounds and build bridges. Recovery is a journey, not a destination. Every step forward, no matter how small, is a victory. Celebrate your progress and support others in theirs. Together, we can create a world where wellness is prioritized and everyone feels supported. 💖 Take your first steps towards a life of connection, recovery, and healing: https://ow.ly/6FVb50TJ9hN #WMHD2024 #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #Connection #Recovery #Hope #Love

"Acceptance looks like a passive state, but in reality, it brings something entirely new into this world. That peace, a subtle energy vibration, is consciousness." -- Eckhart Tolle Life is life—sober or in active addiction. Getting and staying in recovery takes work. It’s not something that happens overnight; in fact, it takes a lifetime of commitment Life often throws ‘monkey wrenches’ in our seemingly calm, planned path. People will do things we don’t like. People will hurt us. We will all make mistakes. The reality is that we are unable to control much of life. However, what we do have control over is our ability to respond to these events. When you accept life as it is and all the situations that come your way, you will experience far greater peace, joy, serenity and recovery. As it says in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous: “And acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing, or situation—some fact of my life—unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing, or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment. Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in God’s world by mistake. Until I could accept my alcoholism, I could not stay sober; unless I accept life completely on life’s terms, I cannot be happy.” (AA Big Book, Fourth Edition, P417) Take your first steps towards connection, recovery, and healing today! https://ow.ly/VWbY50THjjq

At Cedars, we use a Trauma-Informed Approach, so what does that mean? There are six key principles of trauma-informed care: Safety: Understanding safety as both a physical and psychological need Trustworthiness & Transparency: Decisions are conducted with transparency with a focus on building trust Peer Support: Individuals with lived experience engaging in mutual support fosters safety and hope Collaboration: Patients as partners; one does not need to be a therapist to be therapeutic Empowerment: Shared decision-making, choice, and goal-setting to determine how best to move forward Cultural, Historical, and Gender Issues: Moves past stereotypes and prejudices, offering processes that are responsive to an individual’s identity.
