Along with 89 Chambers of Commerce and industry associations and federations, the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce has signed a joint letter to Minister of Labour Steven MacKinnon regarding labour disruption at Port of Montreal. An indefinite strike will impact 40% of the St. Lawrence container handling capacity. It risks accelerating inflation, increasing costs for businesses and consumers across the country, and severely damaging Canada’s reputation as a reliable trading partner—impacts that are particularly acute as the holiday season approaches.
