At Champion Petfoods, we believe we have a responsibility to give back to our local community including supporting them during times of crisis. As first responders continue to fight wildfires in Jasper, Alberta and surrounding areas, Champion is supporting the people and pets affected. 1) We’ve made a monetary donation to Canadian Red Cross wildfire relief efforts, which will go toward assisting those impacted with immediate and ongoing relief, including financial assistance, support to evacuees, and recovery efforts. 2) We are collaborating with the Edmonton Humane Society (EHS), a longtime partner of ours, to help displaced dogs and cats by donating more than 95,000 meals to EHS facilities to assist people and pets who have been evacuated to Edmonton. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by these devastating fires. We hope the fires subside quickly so the long road to recovery can soon begin.

Today is the last day of our second on-site internships with Fumiko Imai, Sarah MacDonald Murray, Luciana Guimaraes Reis, Pauline Kosmal, and Kehan Zhang. The scientific insights shared by the students were enthusiastically received by our cross-functional teams at Champion, and students have participated in experiential learning, networking opportunities, and also explored STEM-related careers. We will continue to work closely with them at University of Guelph and Anna Kate Shoveller on their project to drive future innovation and impactful discoveries for the pet food industry. We thank Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and Mitacs for supporting a very strong partnership with Dr. Anna Kate Shoveller at the University of Guelph and Champion Petfoods.
