La montagne de Liam 🏔️ Un sourire asymétrique et un œil qui ne se ferme plus : ce sont les signes qui ont mis en alerte les parents de Liam, 6 ans. Le diagnostic est tombé : un astrocytome pilocytique, une tumeur cérébrale qui allait redéfinir leur quotidien. Trois chirurgies cérébrales et 70 semaines de chimiothérapie plus tard, Liam reste ce garçon énergique et plein d'humour qui déclare avec franchise et résilience : "Je n'aime pas ma tumeur, mais j'apprends à vivre avec elle". Bien que stable, cette tumeur incurable restera toujours présente dans sa vie, nécessitant une surveillance constante. Aujourd'hui, entre ses visites au CHEO et ses activités retrouvées, Liam poursuit ses rêves avec détermination. Qu'il s'agisse de jouer dans la cour d'école ou de s'entraîner pour devenir testeur de jeux vidéo, Liam nous montre que chaque sommet atteint est une nouvelle raison d'avancer. ✨🏔️

La montagne de Théodore 🏔️ En juin 2022, Théodore a reçu un diagnostic extrêmement rare chez les enfants : une leucémie myéloïde chronique. Après une résistance aux premiers traitements, une greffe de cellules souches est devenue nécessaire. Aucun membre de sa famille n’étant compatible, Théo a dû recevoir des cellules d’un donneur anonyme à l’hôpital SickKids à Toronto. Il y est resté plus de quatre mois, loin de sa sœur Maya et de ses parents, manquant toute sa troisième année d’école et ses amis, ce qui a été particulièrement éprouvant pour lui. Malgré tout, son courage et sa curiosité sont restés intacts. Aujourd'hui, en rémission et de retour à l’école, il profite de chaque instant, tout en rêvant toujours de visiter le Japon et en savourant chaque moment passé avec ses proches. _____ CHEO 💜

Can you believe this fundraising total for an inaugural event? $115,000 is a remarkable outcome. Hat's off to Tiree President Mark LeBlanc and Canderel Group CEO Brett Miller for hosting a first rate event in support of Oncology Research at CHEO Research Institute. Congrats to the team from Thomas Fuller Construction Co. Limited for their first place finish, and our thanks to all the sponsors, prize donors and participants who made this grand total happen for the kids and families we serve at CHEO. We had a lot of fun and raised a lot of money!
This past Tuesday marked the inaugural Tiree and Canderel Challenge: Trivia Night for CHEO – and it was nothing short of remarkable. Thanks to the collective effort of 300 dedicated attendees, we successfully raised $115,000 for pediatric cancer research at the CHEO Research Institute. We are profoundly grateful for every contribution. A heartfelt thank you goes out to our sponsors and community partners, whose commitment and support were crucial in making this event a success. To all the trivia players – your support, enthusiasm and competitive spirit made the evening truly unforgettable. Thank you for your vibrant energy.
