I’m thrilled to share that I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Pan-Canadian Conference on Health Information hosted by the Canadian Health Information Management Association - CHIMA on October 22nd! This experience was invaluable to me as a Health Information Management student, offering me the chance to meet and learn from some of the most inspiring experts and leaders in the field. Hearing them share their insights on topics such as AI’s transformative role in healthcare and the importance of coding social determinants of health gave me new perspectives on how HIM can truly impact our health systems. It was such an immersive experience, bringing my classroom learnings to life and showing me how theory is applied in real-world scenarios. This made me even more passionate and driven to pursue my studies with greater dedication. The HIM professionals I met were not only passionate about the field but also incredibly generous in sharing their knowledge, which strengthened my excitement to one day join such a supportive and dynamic community. A big thank you to my program coordinator, Patricia Visosky, at Douglas College, who continuously works to ensure that we, as students in the HIM program, have every opportunity and resource to build meaningful careers for ourselves. Attending this conference has deepened my commitment to health information management and my belief in its potential to create positive change in healthcare. I’m grateful for the chance to learn, connect, and grow within this incredible community—and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me! #CHIMAConference #HealthInformationManagement #HIMCommunity #HealthcareInnovation #FutureOfHIM #HIMStudent #HealthcareLeadership
