  • What would it be like if built more connections across sectors, ideas, thoughts. I am reminded of a story I recently read where Oxford colleges talked about how the dining halls are designed to have all students across disciplines sitting together. When you have people of different thought, different ideas, different lived experiences coming together, this is where innovation can truly thrive. Come join our November 28th dinner and experience it for yourself. https://lnkd.in/gqsduihX . . . #connectingforchange #letsmakeachange #realchange #diversityisstrength

Grief is a real thing that does not stop when we go into work. How people are supported in their grief at work is a clear marker of how healthy or unhealthy a workplace is. Healthy workplaces create successful workplaces. In the latest podcast episode on our Feel Good Work Podcast, we talked with Dr. Jennifer Mullan Decolonizing Therapy who explored the very political nature of grief. Every workplace needs to be thinking about this. Have a listen here to the clip and then head over to the podcast to listen to the whole episode. • 🔊 This year we launched something that has turned out to be beyond beautiful. Connecting for Change Leadership Dinners are a VIP experience in connecting with people from diverse walks of life and having real honest conversations on what we can do together to create change. 🌟 Our last dinner for 2024 is on November 28th. If you are in a leadership position (in every definition of the word leadership) and are passionate about going beyond mere networking and making real connections which can create real change, then we would love to have you? 🍽️ Read more here and register: https://lnkd.in/gqsduihX ✨ STORY OF AN AMAZING CONNECTION ✨ One of the stories that we want to share from our first dinner (video recap of that dinner below) is of three people from very different walks of life met and came together to form a powerful life skills and boxing project for youth impacted by the justice system. People with experience in youth work, boxing as a tool for change, and private sector growth had an opportunity to talk in a space that is curated for meaningful exchanges. Had they not had this, it is doubtful whether their paths would have ever crossed. • Sharing a few words by Leslie Priscilla that echo the sentiments from which we work in. If we are talking about mental health at work - only for the people who we relate to in some way or another - only through the lens of individual cares and practices We are missing the point Mental health is impacted by - historical context - ancestral traumas - oppressive and violent systems and all the ways it manifests - collective traumas Mental health approaches which only apply a western approach are colonial and westernict in nature (again due to historical context) Let’s have the brave conversations so we can actually support mental health in real ways

  • We want to highlight something today on #worldmentalhealthday that is sometimes forgotten in the conversation.. mental health at work is not just and individuals responsibility, the environment has to be one in which mental health can naturally thrive. Supports for employees are crucial (please keep doing them) but setting up a work environment in which those supported can actually make an impact is even better For example: you can provide a mental health workshop that gives employees with tools for management of burn out, but if your workloads are too much and causing burn out, those tools don’t really make an impact. You can build team engagement activities for people to feel safer in their work environment, but if you don’t provide equitable and non precarious employment, the safety feeling can only ever go so far. Let’s think about how important the environment really is to our personal and business success and while supporting folks , let’s make sure that hand in hand we are transforming our environments to be one where well being is not an initiative but a way of living and working . . . #employeewellbeing #employeementalhealth #mentalhealthatwork #mentalhealthmatters #healthyworkplaces #thrivingworkplaces #feelgoodwork #futureofwork

  • There are so many ways inclusion and team cohesion can begin to fall apart in a work place. 🔺 It can be when an organization tries to do initiatives but does not address the harm that has occurred in the organization so far, so there is no trust or "buy in" into the processes. 🔺 It can also occur when there is blatant discrimination within the employee teams. 🔺 It can occur when policies and processes were never inclusive to begin with. We recently got to work with a client who had two of this points present in their organization, as is very common with organizations and companies that have been around for many many years. With this organization we decided to focus on a specific issue that was impacting the rest of the organization's ability to build the culture they wanted to see. We went through a process of - addressing the harm that was created through organizational healing circles - providing staff with skills for working with the issue at hand - provided affinity spaces to work through things in a safer environment - engaging in braver spaces conversations as a whole team - re-designing the vision forward. At the end of the multiple months of work, people felt - more seen, included and valued - trusted leadership more or for the first time - were excited about being in the organization - felt safer and like there was a support system if they needed it - felt more equipped to tackle the issue if it comes up again These kind of successfull outcomes come only when an organization commits to go beyond the surface. Our bespoke programs provide this. Even though we love our introductory training, we truly love working with companies that are willing to walk hand in hand and develop the kind of program that transforms, slowly, surely and with everyone involved. • Many companies talk about inclusion, but actually building an inclusive culture is a process that requires full assets commitment, meaning people's time, training, money, creation of roles, support systems and much more. Sometimes in this space it can be disheartening to hear many companies talk about inclusion but when asked to actually do it, they fall short. This is why when we work with a company that takes this on as a fundamental way of their culture, it is so refreshing. We recently had a privilege of working with a company who re-adjusted their budget to create a whole team that can support the building of inclusive and well culture. And the changes so far have been tremendous. - Increase in efficient processes - Increase in clearer communication - Increase in feeling valued and - Increase in staff satisfaction And so much more. let's do the work of transforming our workplace cultures. It may take some work and money, but in the end the return on your investment is beyond what you can imagine. . . . #inclusivity #thrivingworkplace #inclusiveworkplace #futureofwork #feelgoodwork
