Today, we’re proud to highlight our President and CEO, Nour Hage’s recent presentation at Queen’s Park to the Standing Legislative Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs. Thank you again to Minister Piccini and his team for inviting us to contribute to this important conversation. We’re excited to keep driving innovation and growth for Ontario’s workforce!
This morning I had the chance to speak at Queen's Park in front of the Standing Legislative Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs regarding the government's new proposed Bill 190! During my talk and the following Q&A session I spoke about a wide variety of topics and issues, including the importance of attracting new talent to critical sectors, the impending productivity crisis and the significance of health and safety visibility to new employees. It was a great experience to be asked to attend, thank you to Minister Piccini and his team for bringing Civiconnect on as a Presenter to the committee. And it's always lovely to reconnect with PAs Patrice Barnes and Effie Triantafilopoulos!

The candidates who truly stand out are the ones who align their resume and approach with what we’re looking for. Passion and preparation are always easy to spot and, trust me, it makes a huge difference! Be Bold (This is my personal favourite!): Hiring teams can get upwards of 100+ applications, so showing initiative is key! Reach out on LinkedIn, apply in person, follow up with a phone call, or even ask for a coffee chat to learn more about the role. I promise you, going that extra mile and showing your interest is a great way to stand out and secure an interview! Ask Questions: The best candidates aren’t the ones who know everything-they’re the ones who ask thoughtful questions! If something is unclear or you’re curious about the role, don’t hesitate to reach out to a member of the hiring team. Last week I had the opportunity to attend and participate at #EVVE2024 hosted by Electric Mobility Canada at the Halifax Convention Centre! The conference was a huge success in large part due to the great work of the organizing team and the phenomenal speakers and guests. I partook in the small group Electrifying Education workshops which was a lovely way to get to know some of our partners, colleagues and collaborators across the education space. In particular I had fascinating conversations with experts like Mubasher Faruki Carl Oliver Marty Madore Karla Barron Kelly Jackson @Greg Morrison Nino Di Cara Jeremie Bernardin Mark Chapeskie!
