About us

With Strong Hands, Strong Hearts, and Strong Minds we Provide Professional Association Services for Massage Therapists in unregulated provinces in Canada, for Massage/Spa Practitioners in regulated provinces in Canada and for Manual Osteopathic Therapists in Canada from coast to coast to coast. Since our beginnings as a completely volunteer driven organization, we have grown to the place of providing a fully operational office and staff that can be reached during regular business hours. This has allowed us to increase service to both members and prospective members and frees up our volunteers to promote the benefits of the Canadian Massage and Manual Osteopathic Therapists Association to the public and future members. Our governing Board of Directors is elected by our membership, from within our members, and is responsible for policy adoption and revision as necessary, oversight of all financial matters and oversight of all committees struck by the Board. Our association is active on several internal and external committees at the federal, provincial, and municipal levels of government. We are one of 4 associations that represent massage therapists recognized by Alberta Health and Wellness. Massage Therapists with membership in the Canadian Massage and Manual Osteopathic Therapists Association are automatically recognized by health insurance companies, as we do not accept massage therapist members with less than 2200 hours of training from a recognized school, nor do we recognize experience in lieu of education. Manual Osteopathic Therapists with membership in the Canadian Massage and Manual Osteopathic Therapists Association are recognized by a growing number of health insurance companies as we do not accept Manual Osteopathic Therapists with less than 1000 hours of training in a WHO Type II program from a recognized school, nor do we recognize experience in lieu of education. Our members practice nationwide in Canada from coast to coast to coast.
